A well-implemented system with medical-grade accessories
I've been splitting up flea medicine doses between my pets for years with no problems. The single-dose packs are a marketing scam and nothing more (ok, the stuff mostly works as advertised). But if the companies that sold the stuff really cared about the well-being of pets, they would sell it in a bottle with an eyedropper, the way they sell baby medicine. If customers can measure out baby medicine safely, surely they can manage some flea medicine for their pets. You just need to read the directions.I was expecting a really cheap plastic dropper and vial with this kit, and was pleasantly surprised to get a medical-grade 1 ml syringe (for measuring only, no needle of course!) and an actual brown glass vial. This is important because if you want to use part now and part later, it needs to be in a completely sealed container. You might want to mark the level after you cap it, just to be sure, but a glass vial is about the best you can get for keeping it from evaporating...

Advantage Large Dog Size
I have been splitting Advantage large dog for over 10 years. I have had as many as 11 pets at one time and it was affordable and worked well. I have no dead dogs.Pre-splitting, a friend of mine gave me the wrong tube, and I gave (without reading it) the large dog dose on my 5 lb yorkie. When she realized she had given me the wrong dose, she informed me. I called Bayer and was promptly told that it would be ok and not kill the dog. I had washed her immediately but as you know it is waterproof and although I may have lessened the amount some, she still got the large 4 ml dose. By the way, she lived another 8 years after that incident. Now back to splitting. I originally got the information from my local vet over 8 years ago. I was not to quote him; however, it could be done. I normally guess the amount, but I will admit the bothersome vial and syringe method will give you a more exacting amount to not waste it. I have syringes around and I also can get...

Same Product, Much Lower Cost!
I absolutely love this product. I have been shortchanging my cats (I have four) with fewer flea treatments just because the good treatments, like Advantage, are so expensive. I NEVER KNEW you could get it in this form -- like buying bulk. It's a dream come true. For only $18 I get the equivalent of two months of treatments for my four cats. That's eight treatments! The only catch is that you should be comfortable with portioning out the treatments with a medical syringe -- and it IS a medical grade syringe, just like the ones used for insulin shots, only without the needle. The other plus is that you can calculate exactly how much Advantage you should be giving to each cat, based on body weight. When you buy the ready packets in the store, there's only one size for a range of weights. By filling the syringe, you can decide whether your cat needs .4 ml or .5 ml, or whatever. The kit comes with a pharmaceutical brown bottle, into which you place the...
