The mirror is well made and functions just as advertised. Installation , though advertised easy, was more involved than some may want to get into. I installed it in my 2003 Chevy truck and didn't run into too many problems, but running wires up the windshield post might be a trick in many vehicles. Particularly those vehicles with side curtain air bags located in the windshield post trim, something the instructions don't warn you about.

Excellent Product!
If you are looking for a rear-view mirror that has EVERYTHING, the Cipa 36500 is the way to go. After installing the mirror, everything is working perfectly. The map lights give you a nice LED lighting, the autodim works wonderful magic at night blocking highbeams from entering your eyes while driving, and the compass and temp display is easy to read and a terrific option to have to alert you right now for ice during this winter season. I strongly recommend getting yourself one! :)

CIPA's Auto Dimming Rearview Mirror with Compass, Temperature, and Map Lights provides the perfect solution to annoying headlight glare at night. Sensors react to bright lights and dim the mirror glass for comfort and safety. It also offers a disable button for when dimming is unwanted. Additional features include a digital compass, temperature readout, and dual map lights. The compass features a bright LED display, and is self-calibrating. The temperature feature displays outside ambient temperature, and can be programmed to display in F or C. The map light feature provides that extra bit of light just where you need it. First time installations will require routing a power and sensor wire. Vehicles with an existing auto-dimming mirror and a 7 pin connector can plug directly in. Otherwise, the wires can be tapped using the wire tap provided. Mirror is 10" long by 2.5" tall, and is a wedge base mounting mirror. This kit includes a mirror, 6.5 ft. power wire harness, wire tap, 9 wire ties, temperature sensor, 14 ft. temperature sensor wire, operation card, wedge button, and instructions. Mirror mounting epoxy not included. Hint: a camlock mount mirror is commonly found on imported vehicles and is removed by turning the mirror 90 degrees, then pulling down. A wedge mount mirror is commonly found on domestic vehicles and is removed by loosening a small screw and pushing the mirror up toward the roof. Camlock-mount Auto Dimming Rearview Mirrors with the same features are also available (part number 36501). Made in the USA and FMVSS approved under section 571.111 of Standard No. 111. Great Compass/Temp Mirror
This is a great product with awesome features. It is quality made and was easy to install. I would have gave it 5 stars if it was a little wider a mirror. I installed it in an 2008 F250 Superduty truck and the mirror is about an inch narrower than the factory one, which gives quite a bit less of a rear view. In a car or SUV you most liely would never notice. Other than that it is a great well built product.

Well designed
This mount works great. The selection of Garmin mounts is confusing as some are two parts and some are one. If you have a Nuvi with the included windshield mount, then this is the only part you need to buy. The included mount disassembles at the ball and socket joint and attaches to this one. I can't say it will never come off the dash if I do some really high speed maneuver, but so far it's held steady for all regular driving.I like that it's easy to move the mount and gps unit down to the floor when I park. Yeah a thief could still see it if they came right up to my car but at least it's not obvious from halfway across the parking lot like a windshield mount is. A thief that sees an empty windshield mount is probably going to assume (correctly) that I've just put the unit in the glove compartment.

Finally, the right mounting solution
I have become addicted to my Garmin Nuvi 660 and used it for six months with a successful windshield mount. But now I have bought a new car. I discovered that the windshield suction mount left an ugly black ring on the window of my old car. (I assume I can get this cleaned up when I detail the car for selling.)So no way was I going to put one of those on my beautiful new car. I tried the Garmin dashboard mount but shied away from the "permanent" disc. I found the "temporary" disc was just not up to the job of holding this device in place -- at least on my vehicle. I found this very frustrating. I read about the Portable Friction Mount, found a Best Buy store that had it in stock and ran out to buy it.Though it is not terribly good looking, it does the job very well. I tried whipping around a few tight turns in parking lots and the whole thing stayed put. As another reviewer said, this lets you easily remove the thing and put it on the floor so it's not...

Best Solution for NUVI in my Prius and my Ford: Theft Protection As Well!!
My Prius has a rough dashboard and a windshield that slopes very sharply. Thus, the suction cup mounts are not good solutions. Fortunately, the friction mount is a great solution. It works much better than I expected. Very stable, does not slide, and lets me adjust my Nuvi to a variety of different angles. I can place the GPS anywhere on the dash or even on the center console. Also works great when transferred to my wife's Ford.Only downside to the device is that it has a rather large footprint, but not prohibitively large. I like the fact that I can easily use this in both of our family vehicles depending on where we need the GPS.UPDATE: Now that I have used this mount regularly since May, I have to say this is the best mounting solution I've found for a GPS or any other device for my car. Why I bought a Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT
Why I bought a Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT.I have owned many voice command systems in my car from both Magellan and Garmin. I use my gps in my car and in my truck when pulling my 5th wheel. I had a Magellan Maestro 4050 with voice command since 2008 and decided to look around for a new one with a few more bells and whistles. A valuable upgrade from Garmin
Most of the reviews here are for the 2595, not the 2555 that I purchased. I didn't need voice activation or bluetooth so the 2555 is just fine for me.I have to disagree with the reviewer that says it is slow to find where you are. I am a long-time Garmin user and I think it is light years faster than my old Nuvi model. Although some of the new features are a little difficult to get used to I still think this unit deserves the highest marks. The larger screen alone makes it worth an upgrade from an older unit.It's also great to have lifetime maps and traffic upgrades. Again, that gives this model high marks. My favorite feature on the 2555 is the categorization of places you would like to go. For example, on my old unit I used to have search for and then type in "REST A" to find the next rest area on my route. With the 2555 "Rest Area" is a category and therefore only a couple of button presses away.In summary, I am a happy consumer who is...

My 3rd Garmin - New Features and how they worked
This is my 3rd Garmin GPS. I have become accustomed to their user interface and performance, so I can't compare to other makes. I wanted to talk about the new features that attracted me to this unit and how I evaluated their usefulness on my first 3 hour road trip to a location I know by heart.Feature 1 - 5 inch screen. I am older and am having to use reading glasses to see the GPS mounted to the dash. My earlier unit was a 4 inch. I considered a 7 inch Magellan, but when I found out you couldn't install custom POIs on the Magellan, it ruled that one out for me. We go camping frequently and I have all the state parks as custom POIs. I also have truck stops I like to use. The 5 inch display was definately an improvement for me.Feature 2 - Automated voice recognition. I definately don't like being distracted by touching the screen to see how far the next roadside rest is (see custom POIs above). So I thought telling the GPS what I wanted made a lot of sense. Works well, low profile, watch for problems with fit
This USB charger is out of the way (other chargers stick way out) so that's really nice. It appears to supply enough power for more power-hungry devices (smartphones, GPS) although only one at a time. However, it did not stay seated in my lighter plug. The internal spring tended to push it slightly out so that it would stop charging. I fixed it with a little duct tape wrapped around the barrel so now it's a tight fit. (By the way, this unit fits flush, so if it is in tightly, don't plan on just popping it in and out on a daily basis.) I also find the USB connector to be a bit loose. So far it hasn't caused any problem because in my car the cable doesn't get knocked around very much. But I feel it should fit a little more tightly. Despite these fit problems I give it four stars since you can work around the problems and it's the smallest such unit and it charges power-hungry devices.

Good Charger With One Drawback...
My charging adapter works and has for over 6 months now. My only complaint is that the adapter can unseat easily stopping charge without notice; however the green light does give indication as purposed. I've tried it in various vehicles (Chevy, Ford, and Toyota) with several cigarette outlets in these vehicles with the same result. I mainly use it to hook a USB cable for charging my phone or my MP3 player while traveling. It works out great as my phone is a Micro-B plug and my MP3 player is a Micro-B plug so I can easily change the type of cable without having to remove this adapter from the outlet. Overall I give it 4 stars for the quality build but I deduct one star for the looseness of the adapter in the outlet.
