Forerunner of modern day Pop/Rock music.
The Kirby Stone Four,four messengers sent before Pop music and Rock music was even born to give notice to everyone of the approach of Pop music and Rock music to others.These 4 guys and gals never knew it at the time but they were one of the first Pop/Rock bands of the 1950's.They took the song,"Baubles,Bangles and Beads" to number 30 on the hits chart in 1958.However due to radio station politics at the time,this song was probably shunned from the airwaves on many radio stations because of its "different" sound and should have climbed higher on the charts.I honestly believe if this song was re-released by the KS4 today it would climb to number 1 on the Pop charts...the song is that good and sounds even better today than it did back in 1958.The lyrics,"Ring jing a ling,ring jing a ling will be in your head all day after you listen to this song in stereo.The women who sang on this album received no credit but they too are members of The Kirby Stone Four,along with the Four members of...

A beautifully done & informative book. I've enjoyed all of Jargstorf's books & feel they are an important contribution in an area where so few substantive works are available. This holds even more true with regards to beads of Bohemian origin...If you are interested in beads in general, it's recommended; beads of bohemian & czech origin, it's essential reading.

Bohemian Heritage Delight
To further my passion for beautiful well made vintage jewelry I looked for books to help me. Realising that the Bohemian style was an inspiration, I searched for any books suitable. This book filled every need and interest. The photos are beautiful with many full family histories and photos of the makers and the often tragic end to the Bohemian dynasties because of wars.I use my book constantly and have gained so much from the detailed descriptions, the families and the great variation in the Bohemian glass industry, both jewelry and other glass objects. I certainly recommend this book.

Not as impressed
As Essie colors appear lighter in the bottle than when they've dried on your nails, I wasn't sure if Cocktail Bling would be gray or purple. I purchased it, tried it, and was quite pleased at first, as it appeared light purple. But this is one of those *funny* colors that seems to change a lot depending on the lighting. Sometimes it looks light purple, sometimes it looks more blue, other times it seems to be an odd pale bluish gray. I really wanted to like this but I much rather a polish with a more reliable and discernable color.Bobbing for Baubles, on the other hand, is a very nice shade of navy blue. I was worried that it would dry too dark, but am pleased to report it didn't. I really like it but think it looks better on shorter nails. Of the 2 colors I liked enough to buy from the winter 2011 collection this was the definite winner. Unlike Mezmerised [sic] which looks better on light skin tones, Bobbing for Baubles looks just as beautiful on darker shades of brown...

great neutral
Brooch the Subject is a very nice neutral, that goes perfectly with my fair skin. I got many compliments at work on this color, and I think it will be a regular color for me. I also have Size Matters from this collection, and it's a really great red, but it seems to get darker the longer I wear it, like the brightness is fading. I've continued to wear it though, as it's a fun holiday color.

Love Essie, Confused About the Color
I bought this color because it looks gray in the bottle (and Essie even describes it as gray), but it changes from grayish blue to grayish purple to gray depending on the lighting. A little disappointing because I've been dying to find a great gray but I'll have to keep on looking.

A 10" fused glass bowl was the main project, but we also constructed a 6" square combing, a fused glass mosaic, two different pattern bars, a small pyramid, a fused glass box, and a small piece with Glassline paints using fiber paper for relief. A screen melt is where glass is piled on top of a stainless steel screen, suspended above the kiln shelf, and the glass is fired to a high enough temperature so that it flows through the screen and onto the kiln shelf below. Flat laps, grinders, and diamond hand pads were demonstrated and used for finishing the edges of the 10" bowl prior to its second firing to slump it. On Sunday, when I went to retrieve my bowl and a few other projects that had fired overnight, the... Patty demonstrated all these techniques, along with frit painting, use of mica powders, strip cutting, circle cutting, and cutting circular borders. It was a fun day of "creating with abandon" that gave me a new appreciation for using Glassline paints and frit in fused glass work. The class, called Functional Art Glass Using Frit, Scrap, and Paint, was conducted by Rosalind Stanton (if you have a Facebook account, search for Rosalind there) and assisted by Debbie Patana.
