this Mixer is crazy for the Price.
I've been doing studio work for several years now andI was scared to buy this mixer, because of the name Behringer.I checked it out at Sam Ash and guitar center for several weeks,and I was still hesitant.On microphone input it has 3 band EQs, compressors/limiter Noise gate,Talk on (Music ducking) reverb, Pitch, Echo and a list that runs a mile long.The line input has beat counter that syncs to the build in effects echo, reverb, Pitch, This is great for reggae and club music.Some of the other features are the 32 Second Sampler, Crossover, sub- output, and enhancer, S/PDIF, MIDI in and out and it comes with rack ears. This mixer should cost thousands of dollars for what it can do.I'm currently trying to set up the Midi control commands for Serato and apple Logic pro.I used to be scared of Behringer, but after seeing this mixer, I'm checking out all their products with a different view.

Great mixer for the price
This mixer is exactly what I hoped it would be. For the price you really cant beat it in features. Despite it being under the behringer name which in the past has made some very questionable products this one seems to hold up nicely and I have no complaints nor have I found anyone else with any. The only issue I have is with the bright leds, I had hoped that since I had made this order a few years after this has been in production that I would receive a newly manufactured product since the newer runs have different leds that are not as bright. Unfortunately my unit was produced over a year ago and still had the bright leds. There was no real way to guarantee this so this is not a complaint against the shipper, but just be wary that you can end up with a few extra bright leds.

Choose Your Channel
The DDM4000 struts 5 independent channels. Channels 1-4 are crossfader-assignable stereo channels, suitable for both vinyl and CD decks, and have appropriate phono/line level toggle switches at the input. All channels feature 3-band digital EQs with up to 12 dB of boost and infinite cut option, or "kill." Any channel can be monitored directly via headphones thanks to the PFL switch above the fader.

A dedicated Mic channel is provided in mono, with 2 XLR mic inputs. The vocal channel features a special "talk" feature that attenuates the volume of the other 4 channels, ensuring you will be heard over the music. The Mic channel also has its own FX section that can be applied with a single button.

Cross My Heart
The core functionality of any DJ mixer lays in its crossfader. The DDM4000's crossfader can be assigned to any of channels 1-4, and sports a 3-band EQ kill button on either side. The curve sensitivity of the crossfader is adjustable, and in the unlikely event that you wear it out, the crossfader itself is replaceable.

Step Up Your Sampling
The DDM4000's BPM-synced sampler is a sought-after addition. The sampler allows you to record a segment of incoming audio and loop it continuously without dropping the beat. Once your track is looping from the sampler, you can swap discs and queue up new tracks and mix them back in. The transition is seamless!

Effects
The DDM4000 features a stunning dual FX section that includes our patented BPM counting technology. A Powerful Mixer....A bit of a Learning Curve
I am a beginner DJ, my genre is in House predominately but I am expanding my musical interests outside the House Genre. When it comes to the DDM4000 DJ Mixer by Behringer, I have to say that this mixer is certainly not for the faint of heart, the controls are everywhere and the user experience is a bit more advanced than I expected, but overall the mixer will prove its mettle when push comes to shove in all genres of music.The more highlighted features are the sampler and the effects as well as the number of channels I can use. I played around with the effects a little while and am loving the sound that is being produced. Surprisingly, the sound doesn't sound so cracked or broken. The smoothness of the sound is great. I also like the kill switches that it has. Although I had a little while...

Not Just a DJX700 Dressed in Black!
DJs the world over love the DJX700, so when Behringer began design on the DJX750, they had to do something very special. They started by revving up the FX processor and putting advanced parameter control right at your fingertips.

No longer are you confined to rigid presets that limit your creativity. With the DJX750, you can change FX parameters on-the-fly, pushing your performance to the next level. Some parameters at your disposal include Bit Crusher depth, manual filter sweeps, Panning (LFO Rate), delay/echo time and much more. Channels Galore
Because your voice is your instrument, the DJX750 features a dedicated mic channel with all the tools to make your sound supremely distinctive. Auto Ducking
DJX750's talkover function automatically detects your voice and brings down the volume of the music track (referred to as "ducking"), so your voice is always out front--you can even set this level to your own personal preference. Auto BPM Counter Sync'ing up tracks is an art unto itself--that's why Behringer gave the DJX750 dual Auto BPM Counters. This cool feature helps take the guess work out of making a smooth transition from one track to the next. Each BPM counter's digital display shows which channel it is tracking and the tempo of the music in beats per minute. Optionally, you can push the Beat Assist button in time with the song to manually enter the tempo. You get a read out of the tempo difference between the tracks, as well as a visual confirmation when they are in sync. These tools will help you seamlessly align two tracks--without having to rely solely on your ears.

Crossfader & Channel Faders
All of our super-smooth faders are of the high-grade 45-mm ULTRAGLIDE variety. Faders are, after all, the heart and soul of every mixer, and with their 500,000 cycle life expectancy (that's 275 fades per night, per fader for five years without a break!), they outperform standard faders more than twenty-to-one. And since the crossfader uses VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) technology, there is virtually no audio noise. For those of you who prefer customized crossfading, the DJX750 also includes our CF Curve control, which lets you set the crossfader's control characteristic just the way you like it. It is, after all, your show!

XPQ 3D
Making music larger than life is what it's all about and the DJX750 comes through on this in a big way. XPQ 3D Surround widens the stereo field, giving it immense depth and a stereo image that is full of life, with amazingly transparent sound. Sound Quality
None of the above-mentioned features would amount to much if the DJX750 didn't sound truly remarkable. Monitor Multi-Tasking
You can't put on much of a show if you can't hear what you're mixing! That's why Behringer didn't cut any corners on DJX750's monitor section. When the monitor Mode switch is in the "Split" position, you hear the PFL (Pre-Fader Level) output on the left side of your phones, and the Master signal on your right. If you prefer working in "Stereo" mode, you can turn the MIX control fully counterclockwise to hear the channel PFL signal in both sides of your headphones, fully clockwise for the Master output, or you can "mix" both signals by adjusting the control to anywhere in-between. Does the job... but not perfectly.
Works perfectly when set at 48V. No discernible background noise or hum. However, at 12V a rather loud hum appears. The mic I'm using it on is rated to accept 11-52V phantom power and no hum appears when I hook it up to a different mixer that has 15V phantom power built-in. Therefore, it's probably a defect in the Behringer unit. Since I can use it just fine at 48V, I probably won't bother returning it, but others might want to steer clear if you can.

does what its made to do
it does what its made to do. i'm not a professional recording engineer so i can't comment on how much hiss or noise it creates. to my ear, it sounds perfect, but i don't use a professional set up. i use it to power a groove tubes condenser mic that i'm borrowing from a friend and it never gives me any pop or noise. so far so good, i'm glad i bought it because my interface to the usb input on my computer does not have phantom power.

Good & Easy
I got this for my new iMac with an Intel processor and it is completely plug and play. I didn't have to download anything, my computer recognized what it was and identified it by name automatically. The only little thing is the cable marked MIDI IN goes to the keyboard's MIDI OUT and the cable marked MIDI OUT plugs into MIDI IN on the keyboard. Slightly confusing but it makes sense after you think about it.

Work with Vista (so far)
I just ordered this product and am using it to connect my keyboard to an HP Pavillion laptop with Windows Vista. While the software didn't install, it is a plug and play device and it worked like a charm with Finale 2008.As others have said - it either works or it doesn't, and so far so good.

Doesn't provide MIDI power
This is a nice, simple and compact interface, that works perfectly well for everyday MIDI tasks. It has one drawback that may be a deal-breaker for some users: It does not transmit MIDI Power. (Midi Power is like USB or phantom power, but for MIDI devices). This shortcoming makes this E-MU XMIDI 1x1 useless for devices that run off MIDI power like the MIDI Solutions boxes. And some devices look for that power during a sysex dump even if the device itself runs off external power. I was unable to use this interface to update my TC-Helicon Harmony M's OS or program my MIDI Solutions Router. I switched to my Yamaha UX16 USB-MIDI interface, which does provide MIDI power, and I was back in business.This interface works fine for all other MIDI uses, like recording into a sequencer or triggering sounds on modules. The driver installed on Window XP easily and I was up and running quickly. It's so compact that it takes up almost no space in my laptop case. It's the cheapest one out...

With that said I also want to know if there is somewhere I can go to read about turntables and different types of CDJ's I know those are two different worlds. And when it comes to turntables I am lost don't know what to look for. I don't know really what to look for in a CDJ type device. Although, you do have to load em everytime you power up. I wish Behringer found a way not to only store it, but keep the last settings used. I guess I get this crazy feeling just thinking about going to the local music store and buying records.
