Very Helpful
Unlike the kits for the basic class and the flower class which you have to heavily supplement with other purchases, this kit contains pretty much everything you need to take the Wilton Fondant and Gum Paste class (except the fondant and gum paste, the roll and cut mat, the large rolling pin.. and maybe a few other things I can't think of off the top of my head). Also, compared to the old kits you get a lot more for your money (granted, you're still paying $35 for a bunch of plastic that cost a few dollars to make, but even though its still technically a rip off, its a very useful rip off! Some of the things you only use once or twice in class, but I've enjoyed working with fondant much more than buttercream or royal icing so I've been making cakes and flowers outside of class, and they give you enough in this kit to experiment for a while) I think you can use this kit even if you don't take the class and want to learn cake decorating on your own (but buy the...

Great starter kit for fondant skills
I have not had a class and got this kit, although it comes with no instructions on how to use it, you can check out some Youtube tutorials that'll guide you. The set is pretty basic, so if you think you'll be working a lot with fondant save your money and get a nicer/bigger set of fondant cutter and tools.

good starter kit for gumpaste flowers
I needed this kit for the course i signed up for, and it had everything i needed. Although it had some of the same parts as the wilton flower kit i purchased and you can tell by comparison that the student kit items are not quite of the same quality- but this does not mean the kit wont work perfectly to make flowers!

Fun but ...
I purchased several packs of this last Thanksgiving to decorate a Pumpkin cheesecake and it was fun to work with cuz it's like clay but edible. What I didn't like was that once placed on the cheesecake it started melting and this cheesecake was cold outta the fridge but the fondant started melting and the colors turned to liquid ruining my cheesecake. Just stick with icing or plastic cake decorations that ruining your baked items with this fondant. But it can be used alone as a edible clay for kids. :P

I love this stuff!
I wanted to make a playable Angry Birds cake for my son's birthday. After hours of surfing the net to find figurines, not finding them, and then surfing for fondant to make them myself, I decided to try fondarific and couldn't have been happier with my choice. Here is my review of the product after making the figurines. (I posted pictures of them as a customer image so you could see the results.) Pros: * This stuff tastes great! The vanilla tastes like a homemade marshmallow fondant (you can find recipes on the web) but is much easier to work with. I also bought some of the Melon flavor to make the pigs and it tastes just like honeydew melons, well, just like a honeydew flavored Jelly Belly would taste. * Amazingly easy to work with. It is hard out of the tub, so I used a semi-sharp knife to cut off a chunk. Then just fold and squish a few times and it is as pliable as fresh Playdough. this is my first time working with fondant and it was easy!! its very yummy, im not a big fan on fondant on cakes because its always thick and chewy so i tried making thinner layers and worked great and tasted even better!! i colored the fondant different colors with gel food coloring and it held it perfectly! made my tie-dye cake look amazing!!! i got this brand because everyone i asked about it, uses it due to the fact on how easy it is to work with and how yummy it is compared to other brands! I love it!
I was so scared to buy this because other reviews had said it tasted terrible, but I really wanted to try working with fondant and I don't have the time to make my own, So I went out on a limb and bought this and I'm very happy I did. Not only did my first ever fondant cake look amazing, it was super easy to use (my only fondant tools were my plastic cutting board, my standard rolling pin and a pizza cutter)and the taste of the fondant wasn't bad at all. I'm sure if you make homemade fondant it would taste better (as all homemade things do) but if you don't have the time this is an excellent product! I will buy again!

Great for learning and decorations, not for covering entire cake
I think this is great if it take it for what it is, boxed fondant. The consistency is great for learning, and it holds well for making decorations. I would not use it to cover an entire cake. I think home made marshmallow fondant is the best for that (better than other brands advertised by celebrity bakers). I disagree everyone that says it tastes horrible, although I have only tasted a small piece. It takes like what it is, sugar.

Good for beginners
I'm new to the fondant thing, and decided to buy it for two reasons: 1. The books said I needed it and 2. It was inexpensive. I wasn't let down, I certainly did find it helpful in smoothing my (store bought) fondant. If you're new to fondant like I am, I certainly reccomend it.

I found this smoother very helpful. It would have been better if my icing had been a bit firmer, but It worked well on the fondant to smooth it out. I also used it to flatten small balls of fondant to make shapes. I should order another one because it only comes with one. I would recommend to anyone starting out that would want to try it. It's not very expensive so if you don't like to use it then you don't loose out much.

You may think it's easier to shop for ready-to-use fondant than to figure out how to make marshmallow fondant one self, nevertheless this homemade fondant recipe is very easy to make and well worth the time and effort. You can cover the cake table with rolled fondant to provide your cake in a classy way. To conserve time or to help you get started, purchase rolled fondant at a cake decorating supply store or a large arts and crafts store. Poured fondant is easier to apply to a cake and provides a shiny, smooth work surface. Cake Decorating Webinars Knead the fondant until it's soft and pliable, and form it in to a ball. Apply fondant decorations to your cake using a very little bit of water on a dampened clean. Drape the fondant in the cake and board as one flowing piece. Additionally purchase small packages of colored fondant to use for decorations.
