Wow! It works well AND was cheap!
After years of having an internal multi-format card reader I was dreading needing to get an external one. I read up on a dozen different models and decided the price and good reviews of this one made it worth taking a chance. I am using it on an iMac with 3 card sizes: SD, CompactFlash, and MicroSD. All work great. Hooking it up was instant. The transfer rate is spectacular especially when not hooked up through a USB hub.Do I wish the cards were easier to get back out? Sure, but they're only a fraction more awkward to get out than my internal card reader and no worse than any other external model. It's nice to be truly pleased with product.*****UPDATE Feb 07, 2012Just putting out word that almost 4 years later this is still working great. Cheers!

Out of box, this card reader DID NOT work with my Transcend 8GB CF cards. I contacted tech support and requested a firmware update if it was available. After the update, this reader works flawlessly.I give it a 4 star because Kingston didn't bother to make this update (dated July 2008) publicly available. Tech support needs to give you access to their password protected site in order to download it. Kind of a pain but the installation was easy.

It just works!
Got this item today, just plugged it in, inserted my card and Vista recognized it right away. It's working flawlessly. I tested it with a SanDisk Ultra II 16GB SDHC card and a Ultra II 4GB SD card. Super fast transfer rate (for those using the RAW format). I haven't used the other slots since I only use SD cards.

Great performance at a low price!
I was looking for a small portable Compact Flash (CF) and SDHC card reader for my netbook and came across this Transcend branded card reader. It is quite small and portable, uses a standard mini-usb cable which is easily replaced if the included cord is lost, and its performance is excellent. I tested this card reader against the built-in USB 2.0 CF card reader in my Dell flat panel monitor, and the Transcend reader tests out at almost twice the read speed of the Dell reader that I have been using up to this point. My guess is write speed is similarly fast, but I didn't test that as I normally only write to these cards in my camera.My only criticism and it is a struggle to even come up with this, is that the 24" USB cable provided with the reader is white and so it looks a bit odd when plugged into the black card reader. But that is only an aesthetic criticism which in the end doesn't really count.I was very surprised and pleased with the performance of this...

Finally - one that works for me.
I have tried several card readers on my Mac, and this one works the best of any I have tried. Transfer times are fast. I recently purchased the camera kit for my iPad. The camera kit only reads sd cards, so I plug this into the USB attachment and now I transfer photos directly to my iPad from a CF card. This is a great product. I carry it in my camera bag and use it almost every day!

I bought it so I can back up my smart phone data. Just make sure that you insert your microSD card with the logo facing down (that's the only confusing part about using this product, but that's nothing once you know; otherwise it works great).

BLUEPROTON CF Reader White
I use 2 different CF cards (Sandisk Extreme III 4GB, Transcend 2GB 133x) works great on Blue Proton USB 2.0 CF Reader, just plug your CF Card into Blue Proton USB 2.0 CF Reader and into your PC/Laptop it reads it right away. I bought this Blue Proton USB 2.0 CF Reader because the CF card won't read on my PC, now it reads the CF card with ease. It's very plasticky feel. Highly recommended.

Outstanding, but broke on 4th use
This card reader handled my SanDisk Extreme Pro 32 GB CF card easily (90MB/sec 600x). It uploaded my pictures very fast, and performed flawlessly 3 times, for which I gave it 5 stars. The fourth time, four of the little pins in the socket bent, and it no longer works, for which I gave it zero stars, averaging to three stars. If you decide to try it, put the back of the reader on a table or other firm surface so that the socket is up, and push the card into the socket straight down firmly and, especially, evenly. This reader is so inexpensive and so good (when it works!) that I might try another one, and just be very careful. Blue Proton could improve the product by indicating either on the product itself (best) or even on the packaging which side is up. Compliments to Blue Proton for keeping the shipping costs down to a reasonable level.

Very pleased to find this inexpensive card reader. Am sure most people have cellphones, digital cameras, video recorders all using various size and types of memory cards like I do. It is much easier to pop out the card to transfer data than to try to keep up with a drawer full of cables. Very small and easy to pack with a Laptop, very handy when traveling.

Portable Multi-Card (SD, SDHC, CF, MMC, Etc.) Reader
This little multi-card reader is a nice item to have...it's small enough to carry with you to use with your laptop, netbook or other USB enabled device to read, copy or transfer files on various memory cards.My main purpose was to have a CF (compact flash, which I still use) reader to use with my laptop. For the couple of bucks paid, I am very happy with this item.The only thing lacking is that it will only read one card at a time...it shows as a single USB connected device in Windows Explorer (My Computer).Still, this is just a very convenient card reader to have available.
