Excellent intro
Having studied piano minimally as a child (six months?), I decided at the age of 49, while at my daughter's recital, that I'd like to learn, but perhaps without the cost (at least at first) of lessons. So after looking through several books at the local music store, I bought this one, with CD (very important, but seems not to be the version sold on Amazon). It was just the ticket. In four months I have completed the book, and now can play moderately complex beginning pieces (for variety, I've supplemented it with a few pieces from getsheetmusic.com, and can play level 3 and occasional level 4 pieces from there). Each page teaches just the a little bit more, and gives you the practice pieces to master it before going on. A very steady, satisfying rate of progress. You also learn notation, musical terms, intervals, and a smattering of music theory, such as keys, although this is not real strong. I found it useful near the end of the book to go back and review just the theory...

If you want to learn classical piano, this is the series for you!
Like so many other reviewers of piano books on Amazon, I have purchased enough books to replenish the rain forest, but unfortunately, very few were helpful -- except for the Alfred series -- My goal was to read sheet music/musical scores; not necessarily just play "Raindrops keep..". The "popular" books teach you chords and shortcuts, but if you want the foundation, these are the books. They are well-written; the exercises are very well designed (I hate 'Jingle Bells', but its the first song using both the left and right hands, and I feel good!). I'm also taking one lesson a month to review what I'm doing in the book(s) and get some pointers from a pro. For me, this is the best way to learn, and I think the Alfred series for adults are the best books to help me along my pianistic journey.

Alfred is Awesome!
After taking piano lessons for three years, spending a considerable sum for the teachers time/expertise while utilizing the "lastest teaching method" which I did not care for I almost gave up playing the piano completely. However one day I was looking through a homeschooling catalog when I noticed the "Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course". I liked the review I read of the product and decided to order it. What did I have to loose? I sat down at the piano the very next week with my lesson book, after playing through several of the lessons I was hooked! Alfred's course takes you back to the fundamental basics of music and piano. After all if you don't learn the basics you are lost. The lesson book I ordered came with a CD which has been very helpful in doing the lessons. Alfred produces other books to round out the series: finger aerobics, theory, sacred, christmas and greatest hits music. This program is great for those who love independant study or are limited in the amount of time/money...

Great book, small print
I bought 3 of these as stocking gifts. I took a chance and ordered these after reading the other review about the small print. I have a similar book that is great and at least 10 years old. The print size is fine, even after 10 years with its toll on my eyesight. I agree that that the contents are great but l also agree that the print is too small. I ended up returning them after I found "Golf Genie", a similar product that was more $, but has more info, was a little larger, and had bigger print. In the end, I found several apps that I would recommend as a worthy alternative.

Great for beginners
This book is great for beginner fondant makers. I was able to follow the instructions and tips and they helped a lot.

Very helpful for the beginner
I really love this book as a beginner. I'm currently taking the fondant and gum paste course by Wilton. This book is a great progression from what you learn in the course. Many of the ideas are doable from the beginner level and of course they throw in some extremely impressive designs that are for someone who is more advanced or looking for a challenge. I'm very glad I took the course because Wilton does some things that don't make a whole lot of sense when your following their instructions. Like they will tell you to use a leave shaped cutter to cut out a peice of gum paste then they will tell you to roll it into a ball (seems silly to use the shape but the shape is the amount of gum pasted you needed via Wilton world). Overall some great ideas and well written.

This book is alright , just kinda to basic
Celebrate with Fondant is a little missleading , it's just basic cover cake with fondant , cut strips and shapes and put cut fondant on cakes , repete in diffrent patters and ways , I would have liked to see maybe 2 or 3 pages of thows basics , but the rest i would have love to see how to mold shapes , they did show how to make little "pebbles" and a bird but thats about it , I really expected for 11.00 less then something I Figure out on my own , to cover a cake and cut out pretty colors and attach in pretty ways. I expected some more fancy things ... but I got it half price so i'm not complaining , just a warrning that if you know how to put shapes on your fondant covered cake , then you might want to serch for a more complex book ... The lession book for the Wiliton fondant and gumpaste seemed to have more intresting things , flowers , bows , swags , ect , i'm sure i'll still enjoy it .

And then so many of the books that Barnes and Noble sells are what publishers used to call “non-book books. So you can buy non-book books, too. ” A “non-book book” is a little bit of celebrity disguised as a book. The point of all this inventory-taking is to demonstrate that even in those cases of physical, brick and mortar bookstores that are still selling books, books aren’t selling all that well. Used books are different from new books in that they are on their second visit to Barnes and Noble. So you can buy a remaindered book, for about half the price of a new one. There are probably only five million people in the United States who buy more than, say, four books a year for themselves to read, not counting students and other captive audiences. The toy section is growing and growing, and it’s safe to say that the margins on toys are a lot higher than the margins on books. About thirty years ago, the publishing industry hit on the brilliant idea of hiring freelance artists from the music industry, who went from designing album covers to artwork for CD jewel boxes, to design book covers. It would certainly help if the publishers published better books. Periodically, in the manner of the K-mart blue light special, a Barnes and Noble clerk comes on the PA in the bookstore, interrupting people’s trains of thought as they are perusing books (or children’s toys), and makes a pitch for the... Also, the average good toy has a much broader market than the average good book. I’m going to guess that Barnes and Noble makes more money from remaindered books than it does from everything else except the latest bestsellers. So they were returned to their publishers, who sold them by the ton—that’s right, by the ton—to companies that offer the books to booksellers as “remainders. You can buy adult games—not “adult” games but board games adults and sharp kids play.

As the market for e-books continues to expand and evolve, defining a new age of technology, there is still a lot to be said about holding a print copy of a book. Since many classics are available online these days for free, I figure I’d make back a good chunk of what I spent buying the Kindle by not buying all of the books, which the teacher had insisted we’d need in class for discussion. It’s all about the full immersion for me. Of course, my experience with e-book readers has had its benefits too. When I crawl into bed and get ready to wind down, my eyes shift and swim over the various stories I have ready and waiting for me. I’m a pretty avid reader, and my stack includes a wide variety: cookbooks by Alton Brown, stories of families... One of my favorite things about having books is the little bedside table stack. Previously, in my “Asian American Memoirs” class, I was asked to write an essay based on emotional and physical context, and proceeded to fill my book with contrasting green and purple page markers. My highlights were on one page instead of within the book. The books themselves contain minute details that make the reading experience unique. As the e-book market has become trendier, prices have also increased over physical formats. You tend to miss out on the many small, handcrafted choices that come into play with a physical book. But book suppliers have come to find that customers will pay for instant gratification, betting on our unwillingness to travel down to physical stores.

College textbooks when made use of in conjunction with a range of other materials like on the web books, videos and as reference books present a good deal of value to a student’s education. Listing your books online is the only way to sell your books and make your money back. Campus bookstores do not give students a break and only buy back books at a fraction of the cost. Finding college textbooks for cheap is now easier using StudentBookTrades to buy, sell, and swap text books. One more strategy to save dollars is usually to ask students at a larger level if they have completed with their books and whether or not they will be willing to sell them to you at a low-priced value. In history, textbooks have already been applied in order to make sure the consistency within the coursework which were offered towards the students in accordance with the grade level of the course specifications. Our mission is to give the students the resources to save a bundle on books and keep money in their pocket. The books as a fact, are divided into chapters, the professors come across them really dependable in following these chapters and make constant references to them throughout their teaching.

They range from cookery books, children's books of all ages, Crime and other genres.  They are supposed to reflect my book-buying preferences but very vaguely I have to say. I don't know several years ago why I was 'chosen' or how many other 'Vine Voices' exist throughout the world but every month I am emailed a list of about a hundred books and some other oddities (such as coffee makers, shavers, scart leads and... When a boat is washed on shore containing a dead man and a living baby, they make the fateful decision to say nothing and keep the baby as their own. But he writes his letter and sets out to post it at the nearest letter-box. What I look at are the books. For this I have to review 80% of the books I am sent. Left to her own devices, she is ignored and neglected (as are all adolescents in classic fiction)and has her own inimical capacity for causing mayhem. In the years following the First World War, A lighthouse keeper and his wife are living on a remote island just off the coast of Australia poised between the Indian and Pacific Oceans, hence the novel's title. One morning, out of the blue, a letter arrives from a woman with whom he used to work who, from a hospice in Berwick on Tweed, writes that she has terminal cancer. Maureen has her household routine and Harold wears his cardigans and canvas boat shoes.
