A WISE PURCHASE ON OUR PART. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WHAT-SO-EVER ABOUT THIS PRODUCT.
I really cannot say enough good things about this particular freezer. We actually have two of these in our home and will soon be adding another. (More about that later). Right off the top though I want to tell you that when you consider the shipping charges on this model and the asking price here, you can probably do much better if you buy locally. If you have a truck or larger SUV you can easily carry this thing home and avoid delivery charges. Anyway...We went the route of manual defrost as we have had automatic defrosting units in the past and to be quite frank, they, the automatic defrosting units will cause a significant rise in your electric bill. With these small units we have found that complete defrosting is quite avoidable if you simply take a nice and sturdy plastic scraper (like the one you use on your car windshield in the winder) and keep the frost build-up down every few weeks are so then the chore of completely emptying your unit is kept to a minimum...

Descent Priced product - but GE dropped one feature (details hidden in the model #)
We purchased the FCM5SUWW based on a trip to a local store and found out when we unpackaged ours that GE has pulled a fast one. The model in the store had the same model number but when you look at the actual freezer name plate on the back it has an extra letter in the model number. The model we purchased is the FCM5SUCWW and the display was model FCM5SUBWW a previous revision with the same package model number. GE has revised the model numbers and left the base order model number in the generic form so they can change production at any time. The difference between the 'B' and the 'C' model revision is the small vertical divider that is used to keep items from falling off the internal step above the compressor. This is listed in the parts diagram for previous models and was eliminated in the 'C' and newer revisions. We wish we had this information prior to putting it in service as we had another choice but food was thawing so we decided to keep it.After initial...

Decent purchase, worth the money
The freezer chest looks small and does not take a lot of space. It maintains temperature and is very convenient to use.It is great for a family of 4-6 people. Fits all my Costco purchases, easy for children to open and pull out the pizza.I would only change one thing in this chest: I would make the lid "slow-close".Overall it is a great item for the price.

Works fine so far
I bought this freezer with a big discount during the christmass and it worked out of the box. I like its small size, it is enough for the extra grocery I have from Costco or BJs. It is a quite unit, my only concern is that sometimes, which is so often, it makes jiggling noise as if something contracts or expands inside, but it works fine. I was looking for a free frost unit but realized that it has to be a big unit for the auto defrost, or commercial unit which costs about $1000, but I find that it takes a long time for the ice to accumulates, so I recommend it for a small family. I took one star out for the noise I hear, even it is not that loud, and there is no front light indicator for this model.

Haier mini-freezer
I needed a small freezer for storing excess frozen blueberries from a bulk purchase so after researching different makes and models, I finally decided to purchase the Haier mini-freezer from Amazon. Amazon offered free shipping and the price of the unit was $20 cheaper than my local walmart and target. It was very good customer service for Fedex sending two employees to deliver the mini-freezer so it arrived in excellent condition even though the way the mini-freezer was packaged from Haier was the worst I've ever encountered. There was absolutely no foam or packing material to protect the unit and after cutting one plastic strap the card board box fell apart. After inspecting the unit for damage, I found one small dent near the top-right of the freezer door (See the images that I've posted above). I proceeded to follow the instruction booklet and plugged it in. I filled the mini-ice tray (Included with the unit) with water and left it in the freezer. Two hours later I...

great item
I bought this item for camping, as we can never keep anything cold for the ten days we go. It's nice and small, holds alot of food, it got so cold that we had to leave the ice cream out for a bit to get a spoon into it. It would be a great item for the house to buy food in bulk, it did not freeze up inside or cause any cold burns on food. I would buy this item again, good price with Amazon.com about $140.00 cheaper than going local.

Haier mini-freezer
This is a nice little freezer, but as with the other reviewers, it arrived damaged. It has a crease-like dent on the right side where it will not be seen, but if it was packaged a little better, that could be avoided. So far it runs fine and is very quiet. Being as I have very little extra room in my kitchen, this will serve my needs for extra freezer space to be able to take advantage of sales. I took away one star for the packaging.

Basic and Utilitarian.
Our refridgerater/freezer was somewhat small for our circumstances and we felt particularly short in the freezer part. So, when we were shopping in our local warehouse store we spotted this Frigidaire model and thought it might work. It was stark and utilitarian looking but we had a corner of the garage in mind for it's residence and the looks were fine. It fit the spot perfectly, and that was more important. Plus, the price was very reasonable. What more could you ask?We've now had our freezer for six months and it has worked perfectly. it's quiet and efficient (it takes about $30 worth of electricity per year). At present time it is storing six turkeys, purchased at $0.37 per pound, frozen lasagna and several packages of frozen beef and pork. We haven't had to defrost as yet. We're totally satisfied with the freezer and are looking forward to years of service.Gary Peterson

Best Buy for the Money
This freezer works great. It is exactly as depicted and is a perfect size for a smaller space. The first freezer was damaged in shipment, but the vendor, ABT, was extremely helpful and replaced the freezer without any problems. Their service is fantastic, and the people at the Customer Service Department are real professionals.I would highly recommend this freezer for any size household. nice freezer
My only real complaint about this deep freeze is that it arrived dented on the top. Sometimes it hinders the lid from shutting properly. Make sure you inspect it before the delivery people leave! Otherwise, I like the design and size of this deep freezer.

Then with all that freezer space I started buying meat in bulk so I didn’t have to shop every week and soon it started filling up. Then we decided to upgrade the main fridge to a slightly larger one and opted for an upside down fridge/freezer so... You see I have two fridges both with freezers – one is an upside down fridge/freezer so the freezer is a bit bigger – as well as a stand alone deep freeze. It seemed sensible to make dinners on the weekend and freezer them for during the week, the only problem was that we didn’t have the space in the freezer so we bought the deep freeze. My preference would be to turn off the old fridge/freezer and keep the deep freeze on as it’s more energy efficient, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to talk Mr Good into giving up his beer fridge and he could probably only fit a couple of bottles... And fill it I did, far quicker than we emptied it. By this stage I was cooking everything with the intention of having left overs to freeze, but my love of cooking meant that I stopped actually serving what was in the freezer on a regular basis. This week I promised the family I would start cooking meals again, though we still ate twice from the freezer in attempt to finish off the last few things. So a few weeks ago I had the insane problem of having run out of freezer space and I realised that something had to change. I decided we would eat only out of the freezer until it was empty, THREE WEEKS LATER we were still going and getting mightily sick of reheated meals, though the lack of dishes was FANTASTIC. Usually I hear or read of people not having enough freezer space to accommodate what they would like to be able to freeze.

I would also recommend getting a deep freezer if you can. My freezer just isn’t larger enough to store all my frozen goods and if I want to start making precooked dinners, I need more space. Hording is when someone collects items that they “Think” they’re going to use but NEVER do. Stockpiling is buying items that you “Will” use and will replenish once used. Remember, don’t worry if you miss a sale, don’t use all your coupons or even buy items without coupons. I know that there are some Extreme Couponers that collect items they may never use or have such a HUGE stockpile that you see rows and rows of toilet paper, but those are far and few in-between a true couponer. You add up everything in your stockpile, before you know it, your only buying disposable items like milk, eggs, meats, veggies and fruit. I enjoy my stockpile and adding to it. But my family can destroy and eat everything I buy up pretty fast too. When you find a product at its lowest price you want to buy as much as you can and stock up for at least 6 weeks. I’m in the market to buy one soon.
