I love a bit of grease
A great gadget. No spills, no over boils, no stink, no mess.Ensure your food is patted dry...or use a bit less oil if you don't want an over boil of grease coming out of the top.It also says, to prevent food gunk sticking to pan..like hand batter fish don't use the basket. I just put the basket down into the grease and drop the fish in. Didn't stick.Easy to clean. Lid lifts off, and it has a small catch for when you open the lid in the back of the unit.I think it was easy to clean. Lid comes off, filter pops out, bowl lifts out and the bowl is immersable. Little hot water and Dawn and like new...It took about 51 ounces of oil.Order extra filters, it only comes with one.

Nice features - low price
This is a great little fryer. It cooks enough for 2 servings at a time, do not overload. It has a nice list of features. The basket is very handy, the temperature guage and ready light work well and the lid with vents and a filter help reduce the grease smell in your house. Some foods with a lot of moisture will not fry well with the lid closed and even with the lid closed you will not eliminate the odor completely. I set this up on my stove when I use it so that I'm able to use the exhaust fan as well and then I am able to eliminate all of the smell. It cleans up nicely and I'm able to store the oil in it between uses for weeks.The previous reviews clearly were not using as this is intended. I suspect they were overfilling with oil/food/both.

Temperature just right, in the long run
In light of Shelley Ryan's excellent report on the problem she had with her Presto fryer, I thought I should report my own experience. I filled my fryer with oil and let it come up to temperature on the highest setting. I checked the temperature with my own thermometer when the light went out, and indeed the temperature was only around 340 degrees rather than 375 as it should be. But, after simply mixing the oil around a bit with the drip baskets, I found that within a few minutes the temperature rose right up to 375 degrees, as it was supposed to be. The heating elements are very close to the unit's internal thermostat, and I think that you need to get the oil moving a bit in order for all of the oil to heat uniformly up to the correct temperature.Of course, once the food gets frying there is plenty of movement in the oil to even out the temperature. And given the substantial amount of oil and the amount of power supplied by the unit's heating elements, I find that it...

This is a great fryer
When I decided to purchase a fryer, I started by first doing research; reading online reviews(like this)and reading consumer publication reviews. Next I go to the manufacturer's website of the fryers that look good and download the instruction manuals for the model I am interested in. This allows me to really get a feel for the products features and find out if there are any drawbacks.Last,I went to some local stores to get a hands on look at fryers with similar capacities and features as the one(s)I am considering. This gave me a real since of how much food I could fry in these machines. I got this fryer from my dad.He bought it because it was dirt cheap and looked great.At first, even at the 375F setting this frier would not get any hotter than 360F, so I decided to sell it on Ebay, and get another one, since Im starting to do some experiments for a Burger Franchise @Burgerhaus.I had a burger fest on a weekend so I decided to try frying about 10 KG of fries on a Sunday.The frier worked great, but sometimes the temperature was not enough when frying 1KG at once on the 2 baskets.After looking on how the temperature sensors are secured, I decided to try modifying the fryer.It seems that the sensors are perfectly calibrated for the temperatures on the dial. It Does The Job!
I've had one of these little fryer appliances since they first became popular in the seventies. The current model is the second one I've had, being larger than the original model that came out. For someone not needing to fry enormous amounts at one time, this little machine is ideal. It requires only a very small amount of vegetable oil. I've used it to fry chicken wings, quickly, to do french fries and onion rings, to do other smaller chicken parts, and it works beautifully. There is no thermostat; you just plug it in, wait 10 minutes, and the temp is 375. Having such a small amount of grease, it recovers heat more quickly than an electric skillet. When you are through, if you plan to reuse the grease you can simply let the machine cool, snap the plastic top on, the put the whole thing in the fridge. Good for my frying needs
I fry things about 1-2 times a week, and I liked my fried things to be very crispy yet not laden with oil. I wanted something that would truly get to a hotter frying temperature, to make my frying quicker and more "healthful"...(healthy frying....is that an oxymoron or what?) Because I don't fry THAT often, I just needed something simple. I like this fryer because the heat-up time is very quick, and there is much less splatter then if you were frying in a pot. When I fry, I usually do your typical fried foods: fries, onion rings, wontons, etc. I have not tried to do anything else in it yet.If the oil is fairly clean after I use it, I will put it in the refridgerator, but not keep more than a week. The Pros and Cons
After spending more money on 2 faulty deep fryers (Rival is hit-or-miss for quality), I've finally settled on this little beauty.Pros:1.) Cheap and simple, a very compact and minimalist package overall. It is nothing more than a steel bucket with a heating element underneath.2.) Fries at 350 degrees, 25 short of "ideal" but safe for cooking with lard and lower smoke point oil. Try lard if you never have, you can still get it in supermarkets.3.) Milled steel bucket, cast aluminum base. Inside has a permanent synthetic non-stick surface. Clean up and changing oil is simple.Cons:1.) Best Deep Fryer!!
I have been wanting to get a new deep fryer for a couple years now, but I was unable to find what I wanted within the price range that I wanted to spend. This met all my needs, the large capacity is double the amount of my 10 year old deep fryer and it had the mechanism to raise the basket out of the oil without opening the lid (which is a lot harder to find thatn I thought it would be). Also my old one was white, super hard to keep clean. The black and stainless steel is relatively easy to keep clean between uses. It heats up pretty fast, which I love!There is only one downfall, it takes a while to cool down. SO if it gets stored in a cabinet it sits on the counter for at least an hour or so before getting put away, but I can deal with that. Probably one of the best 60 bucks I have ever spent!!

If you want the best in home fryer, this is the one for you!
I just received my fryer today and I used it about 5 minutes after the mailman dropped in on my doorstep.Let me tell you this.If you love to fry, love fried foods, and want crispy delicious foods without a buttload of grease because your fryer does not make heat, then you NEED this fryer.I am so beyond impressed.It heats up to 375 in under 10 minutes (took about 6 I believe).I tried frozen french fries, a real potato, fish sticks, pot stickers (not a good one, it was my husbands idea, don't do that), and egg rolls. We're going to try shrimp, chicken, zucchini, and eggplant next.Cooking time is SHORT!!!! The frozen fries took less than 2 minutes to get HOT and CRISPY, and you could still get a mouthful of potato instead of grease! LOVE this fryer!
This fryer is great. I can't stress that enough! It's worth the money, every penny. It holds a lot of oil but it cooks a lot of food at once. The basket is quiet large, but you can raise and lower it with the lid shut (reduces splatter). It heats up real hot, does not take that long to heat up either. We've made all kinds of things already: chicken wings, french fries, perogies, chicken strips, onion rings, deep fried oreo's, fried reeses, and more!Now yes you can make all those things in any other fryer, or even a frying pan... but this fryer is so convenient. Between the lid, the temperature settings, the built in timer, the basket (that you can lower and raise with the lid shut). I read some other reviews that the lid doesn't close right with the basket up but I've not had any problems with that at all. I actually wonder if the person had the basket pushed all the way into the unit (it sorta clicks down into the front by the handle to hold the basket in there)...

Secura 4.2L Dual-Basket Deep Fryer is wonderful!
This replaced a T-Fal deep fryer I'd had for many years, and even when it was brand new, the T-Fal couldn't compare to this amazing deep fryer. One third the time to finish twice as many french fries. This is by far the best small kitchen appliance I've ever purchased. And the price was very reasonable on Amazon, even better than e-Bay, especially knowing the product is brand new in original packaging. This was actually a birthday present for my husband since we share cooking duties, and the first time he used it the french fries were done before the steaks were off the grill. Before this deep fryer, he had to start the first batch while the coals were still getting hot. Now he figures the prep time differently. We both love this amazing deep fryer!

Does a good job and simple to use
Had this deep fryer a little bit over 1 year. It is an amazing fryer!! on the first time we used it one thing that we immediately noticed was it is a very powerful appliance. oil bath heats up very very fast. When we fry, we do not want to leave it unattended. If you plug in the power and got distracted, it may cause some accident. This deep fryer has automatic shup down, so we do not worry about that it might burn dry. But still, it will waste energy in case you pulg in, leave the heat on and forgot it. This fryer is so fast, we do not have to wait for a long time waiting for the oil to boil, it saved us a lot of time.The timer and temp. control are very easy to use, but if you want accurate control over time and oil temp there is a digital model too, hope you find this helpful....

Great Deep Fryer
First off, this is my first deep fryer so I can not compare this to others which Im sure are very good as well.I recived this Hamilton Beach deep fryer as a gift being I have been getting intrested in fried foods at home.I really enjoy this fryer alot. It is built very well. Very easy to operate too. It heats up nicely and even has a timer.Just a note, the timer dosn't turn off the fryer when done, which isn't a problem with me at all. The only thing I see is that the battery for the timer appears to be incased and cant replace if it goes out, but it really seems to be working perfectly.This fryer is not only easy to set up and use, but cleaning was a major concern to me before getting any fryer. This thing is very easy to disassemble and clean.Nice deep basket. I had alittle problem with my beer battered fish and chicken sticking to the bottom of the basket after I pulled a batch, but this has nothing to do with the fryer,...
