Covers everything you need to know
I found this book incredibly helpful for background and as a reference as I started raising geese this year. The author gives detailed information on the history of the goose, the different breeds and how to raise them, and most importantly to me, how to incubate and hatch goose eggs. If you are interested in keeping geese on a large or small scale, this book will be helpful.

Very good, but if you are only buying one book on ducks, get the Storey.
This book is really very good. The pictures are beautiful and the whole book is really well done. If you have other duck books and are looking for one with great pictures, this is it. On the other hand, if you are only going to have one book on keeping ducks, get Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks. It is the most complete of any that I have found (and I have dozens).

Great Book
This book, "keeping Ducks and Geese" is VERY informative ! The book has many beautiful pictures and important information on all the different breeds of ducks and geese. The book answered some of the questions we had about feather changes we saw in our ducks. We have shared information from this book with others that bought geese and ducks but didn't know that much about them. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to know about ducks and geeses. The writer/producer of this book did a wonderful job putting it together !

Ducks? yes! Geese? yes! yes!!
Excellent book for both ducks and geese. Because it is British it doesn't cover our North American breeds and species. But, I would recommend it highly for the information that it does have.

Very Basic
I purchased the book after reading the glowing reviews left by others.On a positive note: The book has wonderful color photos...But the information is far too basic... it lacks even basic care/feeding info.I'd class this at a child/pre-teen level. It will be a nice edition to my 4-h youth library. I will be purchasing more references to fill in what this has left out.

I have been looking for this plastic lawn goose for some time. I wanted to turn it onto a lamp. The original goose lamp now costs 4x the price I paid in 1979. This lawn ornament is the same goose, I just needed to insert the lamp fixture.

I am not sure what to do I have to put sand in this so it wont blow away but the problem is when it was made right under the tail there is a whole that was not filled and its not the hole that you put the sand in do you have a plug or something to block this or a suggestions I don't want to send it back its too awkward to package it and I gave the box to recycle. Please advise. I dont think it was known when shipped just a defect and the goose came in a good box and quickly.

There's not a bad character in this movie, except for the animal control official who persists in locking up the geese. And Anna Paquin just keeps getting better and better and better. She's definitely a child actress who will NOT fade away as she matures.Story (inspired by an autobiography) is based on a girl who, recently left motherless, is shopped to live with the eccentric dad (Jeff Daniels) she hasn't seen in years. And then she becomes surrogate mother to a flock of motherless goslings who insist on growing up into a flock of geese. Comes time for them to migrate south, and they won't go. The rest of the movie is the harebrained scheme of how the geese are taught to follow `Mom' in an ultralight. Before "Winged Migration", there was "Fly Away Home". We had been waiting all year for the geese and the sellers wouldn’t allow us to pick them up until the geese had paired up for mating (we had to buy pairs). Predators were one of our main concerns and the sellers said that many of their baby geese had been taken by a fox recently but the sellers still let the geese roam out of sight day and night. At the Nesna farm the geese were cornered in the barn, Moose just picked the geese out with a finger (4 adults and 2 first years), they were grabbed and loaded into the car. There is practically no information about them on the internet, even in Norwegian, so Moose tried to get all the insight he could from the sellers, but this was still not enough to prepare us. This is the one time where experience will have to... To pick a goose up it is best to secure the gooses wings with your hands and then tuck the goose under one arm while the other arm helps support the weight. Moose went of a three day car trip to Nesna in Nordland to collect the geese from a horse rehabilitation farm. Livestock geese are bred to be heavy, usually too heavy to fly. Geese are bred for meat and the smålens is not competitive in the modern market so their numbers have slowly decreased and now they are in danger of extinction. (For this story, read on. ). The geese are very good at being herded. When I saw the geese for the first time I was amazed at how beautiful they were. That is when I found out that geese like eating dirt. Our geese don’t snap or bite so there is no fear of loosing an ear. Our geese fly along the ground as they run but never get lift.
