Product Description

HOT PEPPERS: When hot peppers are consumed, capsaicinoids bind with pain receptors in the mouth and throat that are responsible for sensing heat. Once activated by the capsaicinoids, these receptors send a message to the brain that the person has consumed something hot. The brain responds to the burning sensation by raising the heart rate, increasing perspiration and release of endorphins. Hot peppers should be eaten with caution!

Habanero Pepper:

The famous 10-alarm pepper from the Caribbean
The legendary hottest of all peppers, its name means "from Havana." Habanero and its kin long ago migrated from the Caribbean Islands to Central America where they remain extremely popular today. A close relative of the Jamaican Scotch Bonnet, the short, wrinkled, green fruits (1-1/2" long by 1" wide) turn orange. To complement its searing heat, Habanero has a delicious, pungent, smoky quality unlike any other pepper; many people find its flavor and aroma irreistible in sauces and salsas. Space plants 18-24" apart. Grow in full sun.

Customer Review

I love the Topsy Turvy pepper planter.
I did what the box said and it works. I love sitting on my deck and watching my pepper's grow. I loved it so much that I got 10 of them and started planting different vegetables. I even gave some away as gifts now my whole family has them.

Product Description

The Topsy Turvy Hot Pepper Planter is the best new invention ever for growing mouth-watering hot peppers! Topsy Turvy is the famous "upside down" planter, where gravity forces the water and nutrients to pour directly down from the root to the fruit. Featuring easy-to-use and efficient grow bag technology, it has 7 side ports for even bigger yield. Simply place your favorite Hot Pepper plant in the Topsy Turvy, add favorite potting soil, hang it up and water. Sun warms the plant like a greenhouse, the root system explodes and thrives inside the planter. No need for pesticides, digging or weeding - plus, hanging in the air eliminates ground fungus, harmful bacteria and cutworm damage. Grow favorites like Jalapeño, Cayenne, Habanera and more. Create fiery homemade sauces, fun new dips, guaranteed fresh organic seasonings! Top to learn more

Works well if your plants survive initial placement
The Topsy Turvy Hot Pepper Planter is very cool. It's the perfect option for those who wish to grow peppers without having an entire garden. I planted hot banana pepper plants in mine several weeks ago and mine still look very healthy and they are continuing to grow quite well. However, it was rather difficult to get the new plants into the contraption without damaging them. You are supposed to squeeze them through the holes and anchor them in place and then fill the rest of the container with potting soil. I purchased the smallest plants that I could find at my local home improvement store but they were still too big to easily fit into the Topsy Turvy. I was forced to rip off some of the root and dirt and really squeeze them inside. I am surprised that they have survived considering the trauma that I probably put them through. It would be nice if there was an easier way to do this. I think next year I will grow my own plants from seed and then move them to the Topsy...

Good for Peppers and Herbs
Picked up one of these at my local department store. The unit itself has 7 ports for plants. Although its designed for hot pepper plants you can also grow other things such as smaller tomato plants and herbs. I currently have Tobasco Peppers, Jalapenos, Cayane Peppers, Sweet Basil, Curled Parsley, Cilantro, and Cherry Tomatoes. Cost me about $22 in total for all of the plants. Theres not a lot of room to maneuver inside once you get some plants in. I agree with one of the reviewers that the hardest part of this unit is putting the plants through the holes. I actually almost ruined a few plants putting it in and I'm very careful. I also agree that its best to select smaller plants for this unit. Don't worry, they'll grow fast once things get going. If you plan on using this with a Shepard Hook, buy an S clip as this unit does not come with one. It does however come with 1 hook which screws into wood. You need to drill a pilot hole in the wood to...

Fantastic
These are beautiful. Please be aware that they are very very very hot. If you like them as I do you will be very pleased. They do have a citrusy taste so also keep that in mind. These are very hard to find even in Florida so I was quite pleased. They were beautiful and healthy from the seller. The only problem was that they did have mites. They were not terrible and 1 day after a spritz with some 3 in 1 natural insecticide no problems. Take care of them and they will produce forever. Also 4 plants is all you will need we had habaneros coming out of our ears :)

Product Description

HOT PEPPERS: When Wilbur Scoville first devised a means to test the heat of peppers, his hottest entry then came in at 20,000 units. Habanero and Thai chilies can go as high as 60,000. Compare that to the sweet bell pepper at zero. When hot peppers are consumed, capsaicinoids bind with pain receptors in the mouth and throat that are responsible for sensing heat. Once activated by the capsaicinoids, these receptors send a message to the brain that the person has consumed something hot. The brain responds to the burning sensation by raising the heart rate, increasing perspiration and release of endorphins. Hot peppers should be eaten with caution!

110 days - Seed for this habanero variety was found in the Caribbean, and then improved, resulting in a uniform, fiercely hot pepper that is way hotter than the regular orange habanero. Dried samples of Savannah Red measured 445,000 Scoville units whereas regular habanero tested at about 260,000 Scovilles. This pepper must be used carefully, but is wonderful for salsas, marinades, and making your own hot sauce. Bright red, wrinkled fruits are about 1-1/2 inches deep and 1 inch wide and have flavor with fruity overtones.
