Best $22 Toy Ever Made!
I'm a 47-year-old kid who has always loved aviation and RC models. Cars, planes, everything. I currently have two other small scale rc helicopters that I have enjoyed, but they are NOTHING like the Syma S107. Not even close. The thing is, they cost A LOT more.I see a lot of comments here about how easy this model is to break. The two channel models I have are much more likely to break because you have very little control. With the Syma S107, you have ABSOLUTE control. Have you ever seen a dragonfly in flight - stopping and turning on a dime? That's what this helicopter reminds me of.Right out of the box it is impressive. The quality of construction is beautiful to look at. If you've ever seen one of the huge rc helicopters that the pros fly, this looks like a scaled down version, with a metal frame and boom tubes just like the big ones. Great little helicopter
I bought this remote controlled helicopter a few days ago for my son who is 6. It is a really cool toy. It is amazing to see it fly and maneuver around the house. It charges for about 40 minutes and flies for about 8 minutes on a charge. It requires skill to fly and is actually challenging, which makes it fun and interesting. My son is too young to really play with it properly so we play with it together. It is pretty sturdy, however, you will end up damaging it over time. There is only so many times that you can crash it before it gets damaged. A small piece of decorative plastic cracked from the tail section which I taped back together. I wouldn't count this against the product because I crashed it repeatedly without significantly damaging it. I will probably have to buy some spare parts in the future.Bottom line - Great, fun, challenging little toy helicopter. Probably the coolest remote controlled toy I have ever bought.

Fun toy, too bad I bought it in Tokyo for way more...
This toy is great, even for the big kids to play around with. It's a very durable and easy to use helicopter and requires no previous skills to fly. Best of all, you can charge it using your computer's USB port or the remote controller it comes with. One thing to note is that this toy is IR controlled, not radio controlled. That means that it's more line-of-sight than being able to control it from another room for example. That being said, it will not get interfered with by cordless phones or other radio emitting devices.You can fly this little guy in a small apartment or a small room and you will have fun doing so. Never to old
I must admit I was wondering whether the reviews were artificially written by the manufacturers/sellers,.... However, the first flight put me at rest...I am 80 used to fly big birds but this is great fun and now a few of my friends are enjoying the same S107's. Expect quite a few spectacular crashes when people open doors or the airconditioning comes on when least expected. Improvements ...Remove the nose and place a small weight ie. a nut in the nose and replace it to give the forward flight characteristics more momentum...then you can scoot around the room easily. Think I can now impress my wife that I could fly a larger one without destroying the house !!!!!

Flies great but only for a few minutes
I bought this for my 10 year old. She has another Syma helicopter and it has lasted 2 years of flying and crashing so I chose another Syma. I thought the bult in gyro would add to the enjoyment and it does. The helicopter flies like a home sick angel! It is stable, will hover if you hold the throttle steady, can be accurately directed and easily flown without crashing. Sounds like perfection and at a very reasonable price. There is one problem that spoils the fun though. After about 2-3 minutes flight time it will not hold altitude. You can get it to climb by flying in a forward direction and extend you flight a couple more minutes or you can land it and let the battery recover for a few seconds and it will climb or hold altitude but only for another 10-15 seconds and then it begans decending again. Even if you do use the forward flying trick (a half dozen circles going forward will get you 3-4 feet altitude) or you shut it down for a few seconds to give you enough to climb...

It works!!!
This is the real deal. The gyro works perfect like it should. Other brands make claims that their products can't back up. But this little heli is worth every penny.I've tried 4 other brands and they sucked. This S107 would fly circles around them and it will land where you want it to. Do a search on youtube and you can see for yourself.

Is there such a thing as a toy that's too perfect...?
The Syma S107 is so easy to control that on my first flight I had it tour my whole apartment, zooming in and out of closets and never touching an obstacle until I deliberately landed it. If you've never flown a good RC heli before, you might need to practice a bit. It might be your second or third flight before you get that good.The S107 is *really* that easy to control.I'm sure that many of you have played with Air Hogs and other micro helis and you long for a little heli that just plain flies where you want it to fly and stays up in the air. An unsung hero of the indoor RC helis - The Syma S107 (7.5 inches long)
RATING: After flying the 7.5 inch Syma S107 indoor heli for about 3 months now, I have to say that it is one of the most under-rated RC heli out there, hands down. Shop around. At about $30 online with taxes and stuff, this little trooper delivers the looks, detail, durability and performance of a much pricier heli. The Syma S107 has only 3-way controls but it competes surprisingly well with the likes of the Blade MCX2 which has 4-way controls and retails for about $150 off-line.PERFORMANCE: I find it more fun to fly the Syma S107 than the smoother and more mellifluous Blade MCX2. In this sense the Syma S107 hews to a less is more principle: i.e. it delivers more with less. But here is the irony of the whole situation: the Syma S107's ragged performance edge actually connects with you better than the ultra-smooth Blade MCX2. Great little toy
Most of the other reviews have hit the major pros and cons with this, but there are still a few more that I can add. Hope they help in making your purchasing decisions!PRO:- Thanks to the gyro, very short learning curve. Remote has two joysticks. Left side only moves up/down and controls speed of the rotors, which controls how much lift they generate. Right joystick moves up/down (controlling forward/reverse) and left/right (makes heli spin). You can also moving the right stick diagonally to make various turns while moving forward or backwards (reverse "figure-8's" are always impressive).- Surprisingly large number of "mods" that can be done to a $30 heli. After experimenting, I have settled on two minor ones. First, I removed the spring from the left joystick in the controller. Best mini helicopter at this price!
I have a small squadron of mini helicopters and this one is by far the best so far. I read great reviews of the Syma S107. I was quite pleased with it compared to some of the older Syma models. Then I saw the positive reviews for this and thought I would give it a go. It flies incredibly well! Quiter than the other seven helicopters I have and so stable, smooth, and responsive. It is a little slow with forward and reverse momentum, but not bad. Slow is easier to control...maybe that was intentional. Freaking awesome. 10x better than 1st gen copters
What a difference a gyro makes! Incredible...I tried one of the 1st gen micro R/C copters (no gyro on those) not long after they came out, and found them to be extremely difficult to control and not much fun because of it.This generation with the gyro is just amazing though...SO stable, SO easy - but not boring. There is still a learning curve for complete R/C noobies that will make this a great first R/C copter, but I look at it almost like a challenge...trying to master this little beast is FUN!This also actually looks like a real helicopter, compared to the ones I bought previously, which looked like....well like R/C copters - completely unrealistic.The LED lights are awesome so you can fly at night (my kids LOVE that - the dog...not so much), and the thing even seems to behave like a real helicopter, with ground effect and having to reduce speed (thrust?) to tilt forward (I am no pilot or physicist, but I do know that the previous models I...

Awesome price for an awesome copter
I own two other indoor helicopters that I purchased for three to four times as much money at the mall. This is the helicopter that has the best control out of all of them. I can land this thing on a soda can and fly circles around my wives head (my favorite part, especially when she is watching stupid tv shows like the Kardashians). This is the absolute best gift for any male you know. My 8 year old can fly it. Cant say enough about what you get for the price. I also love the silly Engwish warnings printed on the props.

I ordered this helicopter along with 3 other helicopters. 3 from Syma and one off brand helicopter. I ordered multiple helicopters because the only ones I have flown have been 2 channel and if one broke I would have backup. I ordered the Syma S107 and S105 at the same time, and the S107 arrived first and the S105 arrived the next day. On my frist flight of the S107 I was suprised how stable and smooth the flight was. The box says 14 and up but I think anyone could control this helicopter. It goes up, down, left, right, forward, and backwards, all at a balanced speed thats good for indoor flight. It is not too slow to be boring or too fast that you can't controll it. The trim button on the controller is pretty much not needed because it does not spin out of control. I still havnt adjusted the trim after about 20 flights. Also, both Syma helicopters are VERY durable since they are made of metal and hard plastic. The blades are also durable. Customer Video Review Length:: 0:23 MinsI am not a Heli expert but can say I have owned an Electric Falcon with Auto Pilot ($250-350), a Coco Lama (great heli $75) and the first micro heli($19). The s107 is fun and VERY stable, you really can't ask for more, it will go back and forward very easily, it would literally be a work of engineering at this price if it had better turning. Let me explain- it vertical controls are quick and presice, it goes up and down very easy and with power, it turns to the right or left by a light touch. What it is lacking is horizontal yaw. But guess what it's a toy and so cheap that I must say outside of this it's a blast! I love my Coco Lama, its bigger and worth every penny, yet this micro is sturdy and has great controls, it's a steal for 30-35 total, its built very well and strong, I truly believe its going to be around a long time and if not the parts are cheap. Easy to fly, but....
The thing is a breeze to fly! Mine arrived in perfect condition, and with 3 days of flights w- no crashes the helicopter stopped lifting off & the controller was acting crazy, even after a battery change. Found out the lower rotor shaft has slipped out of place and was not rotating at full speed. A small piece of duct tape has secured the rotor shaft back in place. The rotor shaft thing has been reported in other RC group sites, so buyers should be aware that this may happen to them as well. Now lift off is working again, and will have to see how well the controller works. Overall the best flying helicopter in the price range, but made in China so quality may be questionable.

Good Helicopter, but has a learning curve
Ok I did not buy this on Amazon, I got it at a local expo show and paid a little more but it is the same heli. This is a very nice helicopter and despite other reviews seems to be very durable. To give an example I have crashed numerous times, including into the ground, into a tree, a telephone pole, a steel automotive lift (the things that lift cars in mechanic shops), while I have a few dents and dings in the rotors they are still solid and it still flies. The balance bar bent as well but I just bent it back and all is well. I would call that pretty good considering some of the more high dollar helis like my friend has the rotor will shatter upon contact with a solid surface.There is a learning curve to flying this. Just because it is a gyro copter, dont think that you can just take it out and fly with out crashing. I had a hard time getting off the ground for the first day, ground effect came in and made it go left every time. After some practice and messing with the...

It's alright, could've been better
I agree with some of the things the previous reviewer said, but I think the product deserves more than one star.For the size (it's big) it could've been better.You need to have some experience with helicopters, otherwise you are going to crash it.It's stable alright, but not that stable for a beginner. I was looking for a stable platform that can hover enough to take pictures or short clips.I haven't yet attached any equipment but my guess is the heli can take an extra 30-50 grams easily.It is powered by 2 cheap 370 stock motors and in spite of the metal body, almost all other parts are plastic. It can take small hits, but a serious crash will damage the helicopter to the point it will become unflyable. Built in gyro seems to be working fine, but I have a vibration into frame at different rpm.(My guess is the fly bar which is easily bendable). Good copter, can be great with a few minor mods...
For the price, you actually get a pretty decent piece of hardware. That being said, there are a few modifications I would make before use. It says ready to fly on the box, and fly it will... how well is definitely open to debate. The first thing is to remove the canopy, loosen the battery, and slide it most of the way forward, then tighten the mounting bracket down again. This will move the center of gravity forward. This is necessary because without doing this, you literally cannot fly forwards. Other mods to increase maneuverability are to shorten the tail boom, slide the landing skids forward (easy), and replace the rear tail rotor with one of these: [...]After replacing the rear rotor you will have to move the rear stabilizers up on the boom to make room for the larger blades.Another mod that helps a lot is to replace the battery with a larger one, like a 15c 7.4v 3000mah.
