Love at first bite! Tongue-puckering tang and crunch!
I first discovered Kettle Chips with sea salt and vinegar while shopping at Trader Joe's with my daughter Mindy. I couldn't believe how tasty they were; the best chip I had ever eaten. It was love at first bite, and I've been munching them ever since.Other things in their favor: they're thicker than other chips, so don't crumble as I'm devouring them; they're delightfully crunchy; and the salt-and-vinegar combination is heavenly. I tried to create an original line to describe this palate-pleasing taste treat, but couldn't beat what the manufacturer said: tongue-puckering tang and crunch. Isn't that poetic?As for health values, since Kettle Chips are not peeled during preparation, I'm getting more nutrition, such as potassium and vitamin C. The Best Chips...PERIOD!
You don't need salt to hide the taste of potato chips. And these chips prove it. The taste of the potato comes through, instead of being masked. OK, so they're still a snack food, but no salt and no trans-fats mean these are about the healthiest potato chips you can get. And if you're on a low-salt diet (like I am), having these available means I can eat chips, and Kettle are just the best.

Great chips
Hi:I bought a 24 pack of these 2 ounce bags (size you would get at Quiznos or Subway with a sandwich) since they were less than I could get them at Costco in a equal pack of Frito chips. I had tried previously by buying a bag at my local Albertsons and they are good. Good chip for dipping sicne they're a little thicker than Lays. The chips are fresh, crisp and great tasting; perfect for putting a bag lunch for work or school.NOTE: Bags are made extra thick paper with a plastic lining for freshness and very difficult to open by hand. Use a knife or scissors.

Really Surprisingly Good Baked P-Chips! MMmm!
I'd pretty much given up on baked potato chips cause I hate that funky texture that, for instance, the Lays one has.Since I really love the organic Kettle Chips in chipotle flavor, I decided to give these a go. I got the lightly salted first, and the texture was great. They were very nearly like regular. (A very minimal difference). Crispy, potato-y. Nice.I then ordered these, and I love them. Much tastier than the somewhat bland "lightly salted" regular ones. They're sweet and smoky. A very nice barbecue flavor, I have to admit.I really hope they make the chipotle flavor in baked (and organic). I'd buy those in a heartbeat.So, for folks looking for a non-fried potato chip alternative (great for brown bagging lunch, four servings to a bag makes them more economical), I recommend the Kettle Bakes. I know that some people are trying to change their snacks to some healthier options and i found that fruit is a great alternative, as well as fruit bars or even low-sodium organic kettle chips that are really good. I only take lunch to school two times a week so i was able to leave my other snacks out of my lunch because i was determined to finish all the fruit before it went bad. I buy those snacks in bulk at Costco and i wasn’t able to finish it before this week, so they were very tempting there sitting in my pantry.

I used one potato, and I still have some more potato slices leftover that haven’t been fried even after making a bunch of chips. *Just to ensure the oil is at the correct temperature, place one potato slice into the hot oil. And for peanut allergy people, I made them with canola this round just because I am thirty minutes from a grocery store that carries peanut oil & I didn’t want to wait a few days to try this. {*See recipe notes} After 3-5 minutes, potatoes should be brown and looking a lot like chips. I used canola/vegetable oil blend instead of peanut oil. Using a mandoline or food processor, slice potatoes to be very thin and place into cold water to soak for 30 minutes. Most of my slices were thicker and were more like “chip” on the outside with a tiny bit of “french fry” in the middle. If the potato slice sizzles violently, the oil is too hot. My mom said that they tasted just like the chips at the store and that I’m going to put Lay’s out of business haha. Heat peanut oil in large pot or dutch oven over medium to medium high heat. Happy chip & dipping.
