Product Description

The KRK ERGO (Enhanced Room Geometry Optimization) is a 4-in/6-out Firewire audio recording interface/room correction system that enables you to measure and analyze phase and frequency problems in your monitoring environment. Its the perfect solution when your studio monitoring environment is less than ideal and you dont quite have the budget for perfect studio design or room treatment (foam/panels).The KRK ERGO is a sturdily built metal unit with a sweet set of features that recordists of all levels will appreciate. It hooks up easily to your existing system via the rear panel firewire ports or S/PDIF connection. The large volume control along with integrated headphone amplifier means it functions beautifully as a studio monitor controller. Top panel buttons for monitor switching are easy to control and allow you to switch from 1 set of monitors (A) to another set or a subwoofer (B/Sub).The ERGOs onboard digital processing along with the accompanying software automatically corrects offending room issues using the included measurement microphone. You just place the mic at your perfect sitting position, adjust your speaker levels, and record the left and right calibration signals. Youll then take a few more measurements (at higher and lower positions) so the KRK ERGO can gather as much room information as possible before calibrating the filters for perfect compensation. This foolproof process takes all of 10 minutes and results in a dramatic improvement in your listening experience. The KRK ERGO also doubles as a high-end audio interface making it an indispensible studio tool in more ways than one.Rear panel connections include 2-Firewire ports, SPDIF digital, L/R TRS inputs, 2-sets of TRS outputs a headphone jack and a input jack for the calibration microphone (included).Get your KRK ERGO Room Correction System today from Sam Ash Direct and enjoy the confidence that comes from fast, free shipping, the guaranteed lowest price and our 45/60-day return/price pro... All About the KRK Ergo Studio Monitor Room Processor

The KRK Ergo Studio Monitor Room Processor (ERGO - Enhanced Room Geometry Optimization) automatically tailors the sound in your mixing environment to give you a much more accurate room and better mixes. A great mix starts with a great recording room. But when it comes to achieving the most accurate mix, your room may have the upper hand. Like any room, your studio’s acoustics include offending frequencies and room reflections, and none of these are helping your mix. Getting a handle on these problems has traditionally meant the installation of soft foam or fabrics, and that’s a great start. But now you can get even closer to a perfect room, and a perfect mix, because the future of studio sound is here, and it’s called ERGO.

ERGO's high-end sound quality makes it perfect for the discriminating audio professional, while the affordable price puts it within reach of the typical recording hobbyist. Every studio needs an ERGO, because even the most accurate monitor in an imperfect room isn't going to solve mixing problems, but ERGO will. ERGO also makes your mix translate from the studio to different environments. How good is a great track that only sounds great in your room? With ERGO, your mix sounds great everywhere you or your fans want to hear it. Want better sound, and in more places? Put an ERGO in the mix.

ERGO is a digital room analysis/correction system and consists of the ERGO unit, a microphone, and control software. These three pieces are used to measure and analyze phase/frequency problems within a listening environment.

KRK ERGO: Smarter than Your Average Gear

Room correction products aren’t new, but thank goodness ERGO is. While conventional room correction systems utilize simple analysis and limited bands of EQ (often fewer than 8), ERGO uses multiple measurements and proprietary algorithms to create a 3D image of the room, and then applies 1024 dynamic filters to control the audio environment. Our 3D model allows users to preserve the “good” characteristics of the room, while correcting the bad... ERGO doesn’t color the sound or produce an artificially sterile environment. ERGO produces the best mix for a given room; a mix that will translate better to other listening environments, since it was mixed in a perfect room.

KRK Ergo Features:

  • Large Volume Knob: Ultra-smooth response volume control provides simultaneous control of ERGO's A/B/Sub outputs.
  • A Speakers: Enables or disables the audio being sent to the A speakers.
  • B Speakers: Enables or disables the audio being sent to the B or subwoofer speakers.
  • Room Correction: Turns room correction processing on or off.
  • Focus/Global: The 3D model allows users to preserve the good features of the room, while correcting the bad. This gives you perfectly corrected sound while mixing. In Global mode, the corrected spot is widened so that others (producers, musicians, groupies) can enjoy your mix in a corrected environment.
  • Headphone Volume (side panel): Adjusts the output level of the headphone jack. The headphones have their own independent audio stream, or can mirror the A stream.
  • Calibration Switch (back panel): This enables the room calibration microphone and places ERGO into analysis mode.
If the sophisticated room analysis wasn’t enough, ERGO can help around your studio in other ways too. Ergo can switch between two sets of full range monitors, or two monitors and a subwoofer via its front panel controls. Switch easily between monitors or monitors and sub systems. Each set of speakers will have their own correction filters. ERGO also provides a choice of selecting between two stereo audio streams through the headphone output. While ERGO’s large volume control delivers ultra-smooth response of ERGO’s A/B/Sub outputs. ERGO has your connections. Top to learn more

Accurate Room Correction
Samples your room well, and gives you two stages of accurate imaging. I could tell that boomy bass freq and others were cleaned up the very first time that I tried the unit. However, this is one of those items where you really notice when it is later bypassed. Even the best speakers will sound better in ANY room with this unit. Its only problem is that the Orient copy factory is now turning out almost identical units for about 1/4 the price.

Makes your monitors speak the truth
I've been eyeing on JBL monitors for a quite some time and when I finally bought them, I was a little disappointed. Compare to KRK, Mackie, and ADAM monitors I have, they were a little too boomy, and shallow. So I bought MSC1 and went through the correction, they suddenly came to life and I am really enjoying the JBL monitors. If you have JBL monitors, MSC1 is a must.

A cool speaker....
I purchased this subwoofer as part of a 'system' (which includes 2 KRK RP8 speakers) for my Korg M3 Keyboard Workstation. I was using my old computer speakers until I got this setup. This subwoofer is impressive, however, I must say my days of having 'golden ears' is long gone. Too many years of exposure to loud sounds (concerts, guitars, motorcycles) and age (51) means I don't have the kind of ears that are particularly discriminating. However, the new keyboard needed a sound system that covered lots of frequencies, the bottom end in particular. I looked into a lot of 'studio monitor' systems, and decided that KRK offered the best options in terms of price/performance. I also must admit that I didn't audition any speakers by listening. It was purely a documentation type review. That said, I'm thrilled with what I've got. The subwoofer has a volume control (which needs to be barely cracked off zero to create a balanced sound with the RP8s), and a variable crossover frequency,...

The only subwoofer that's mean enough to compete with Classic Cerwin Wega's
**To the person who returned this sub, stating that the 'bass was very strong but it was really floppy and destroyed the music' - you need to give it a few hours to break in before you judge it's performance!**I've had many subwoofers in the past, notably Klipsch RW-10, Rw-12, RW-12D( lcd variant of the RW-12), Definitive Tech Supercube-1 and some others.I've also owned some powerful floor standing speakers including vintage Fishers, Pioneers and Sansuis with large/supersized woofers and currently, my most powerful combo - Cerwin Wega RE-38's that can eat 400 watts a piece. They're so massive that each unit sports TWO 5 inch rear port ducts. These dogs are leashed on Adcom's that put out 325 watts/channel - that's excess of 650 watts from power amps, not from a typical HT receiver.Frankly, none of the subs I've owned have ever able to properly complement any *large* pair of floor standing mains I've used- they've either not hit deep enough to warrant the...

Thump, Thump, Thump...
After the CD player on my Sony bookshelf system (also reviewed on Amazon) finally gave up and they wanted more money to fix it than it was worth, I decided I would use my old computer as my home stereo system. After doing some online research and talking to a salesman that sold most every brand I ended up with this 10" KRK Active Sub and a pair of KRK RP6G2 Rokit G2 6-inch Powered Studio Monitors.I have this set up in my 16' X 16' living room, and it is on the verge of being overkill. The sound is nice and pure though. If you want a 'real' sub for your computer for video games, music or just to impress your friends then I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these. You will need to buy a cable that has a 1/8" plug to two 1/4" plugs to connect to your graphics card. You have the option of RCA or XLR outputs to go to your monitors. I used the XLR outputs to go to the 6" monitors.

A New Standard in Low Frequency Monitoring For years, KRK subwoofers have been the choice for accurate low frequency monitoring in studios large and small. Now, the K10s provides a new standard for even better performance and accuracy, raising the bar once again. Whether you are mixing in a 2.1 or 5.1 surround environment or just looking to upgrade the low-frequency extension of your existing monitors, the K10s will provide the low frequency detail and accuracy that will help you to create a better mix.

Let’s Be Up Front Take a look at competitive subwoofer monitors and you'll find ports on the back of the cabinet. These rear-firing ports tend to create bass coupling with walls and corners over-amplifying low frequency information which in turn colors your mix. The superior design of the KRK10s includes front-firing ports which are just the right shape to reduce port turbulence. You'll appreciate the clean and accurate bass performance this approach delivers, even at high SPLs.

Feel the Bass You need to feel the bass and our proprietary signature yellow woofer delivers tight, clear low end response. Our engineers and listening panel took the K10s speaker voicing to even more accurate levels. Featuring a sweepable 50 Hz – 130 Hz low pass filter, your K10s provides flexible control for any monitoring system. What you hear is what you are intended to hear, coloration is not part of the spec. This performance is brought to you by drivers that are custom-designed by our world-class studio monitor engineering team, for a clear, low-distortion performance.

Take Control Professional engineers like the ability to hear how the sub is affecting the mix. Your KRK subwoofer is equipped with a bypass feature which allows you to defeat the sub and provide full range audio to your recording monitors. To use the bypass function, you will need to use a standard latching 1/4 mono footswitch. Top to learn more
