Great workhouse computer for business
The Dell Latitude line of notebooks are well built business machines. The Latitudes and XPS lines are a tier higher than the entry-level Inspiron Series.The case is constructed of metal with plastic trim along the LCD monitor. There are 4 USB ports which allow for a variety of peripherals to be attached such as portable hard drives. There is a headphone and microphone jack and an outlet for a monitor. The keyboard is comfortable to the touch. In addition to the mousepad, there is a pointing stick with 2 buttons below the space key, allowing for either to control the cursor. The 'spill proof' keyboard is one of the biggest assets (I have only spilled a drink on it once, where I just wiped off the keyboard without a problem in function).The WIFI capabilities is reliable and easy to set up. The hard drive is quiet, as is the optical drive. The strike zone hard drive is resistant to light drops.Performance of the notebook is excellent with the...

Bargain Notebook
I purchased the D620 for my daughter in college when her 2 yr old HP notebook died due to an overheating problem (long story). After verifying that the D620 worked properly by connecting to the internet and installing XP SP 3, I moved over one of the RAM chips (for a total of 1.5 GB) and the harddrive from the HP. I then installed Windows 7 and recovered her data files (I didn't really expect a college student to use the flash drives that I gave her for backups). Finally, I installed software including Office 7. Throughout the process the D620 performed flawlessly. I tested it by running DVDs, Office apps and videos over the internet (after I set up a wireless connection). This is one fine notebook, very fast and with a good display. Its only "short comings" are obvious from the specs, i.e., no web cam, no media slots and no DVD burner. But these are clearly minor issues given the price.

Decent budget machine
Well i will start by saying its built to a price and it kinda shows in some areas. my biggest concern is the plastic looking hinge for the screen...not sure how that will last, but for 450 you get a decent laptop.The speakers sound noticeably small, the top surface is a fingerprint magnet and well the webcam is not the best but for this price i can't complain.Well update if things fall apart....just giving Lenovo a chance :)~Update 3rd April 2012~Forgot to mention that the DVD drive kicks out with such ferocity...."look out", but even so it closes flush with the side of the system. The button on the drive is also somewhat recessed so pressing it without looking will take some practice.

Its a good Budget Laptop
Expecting great performance from this product is unrealistic. The laptop does have a surprisingly decent touch-pad which is always nice to have on a laptop. It is pretty pack for the price, and for less than $50 you can throw 4gb more of ram to help give it a further boost. It is also fairly light for a budget 15" laptop and has great battery life. My complaints on it would be the screen quality. The picture is not great and it does give off a lot of glare. Given the price, I can't really complain about the product. Consider it buying last years technology only new and cheaper (i.e. it runs USB 2.0 and not 3.0)

Great Laptop!
This is a great laptop for the price. It functions beautifully for basic use (school, work, surfing the web, etc.). I have had absolutely no trouble with mine, and would highly recommend this product to everyday users.I've seen a couple of bad reviews simply because users purchased this computer with the intent to make it their "gaming" computer, and then were disappointed with the outcome. Check the specs and your game requirements first. If you truly want a gaming computer, you probably shouldn't be looking at Laptops in the first place.It's a great computer at a reasonable price. If you just need something for work, school, and surfing the web, it's perfect.

This laptop is so awesome. I've always had a desktop, so I'm excited that I was able to purchase a laptop at such an inexpensive price. First of all, it's advertised as having 512MB RAM and a 40GB hard drive. Well, I got 1G of RAM and a 60 GB hard drive. Secondly, it works so well, as if it's new. And thirdly, for this to have been a refurbished computer, it looks good with very little to no scratches. Several people's comments have not been to pleasing, but I would blame the seller, not the laptop. I didn't purchase the cheapest one. I read all of the sellers' comments and chose the one I thought would give me an honest buy. I am very happy with my purchase.

Excellent basic laptop for anyone looking to save money.
I bought this laptop from Micro Center because I saw it on sale for $279 and needed a new computer. I basically try to keep things until they go bad, my computer previous to this one was like a 1996 Award Tower with a basic Dell Screen. Very slow, with a 6 GB hard drive. It got to the point where it was too slow for me to do my work efficiently and couldn't even watch 360p videos on Youtube. I always try to save money and try to purchase items that offer the most for the money. This laptop was an excellent choice. I've had it for about a month so far and I am so happy with it. The performance is excellent, its not sluggish at all, the keyboard is nice and comfortable, and the HD graphics and LED screen are wonderful. Two minor complaints I have is that I couldn't connect to my WiFi and had no idea why it kept disconnecting. I had to uninstall the Norton virus protection that came with the computer and then the internet is working fine. It kept blocking it and driving me crazy, so now...

Great for the price
Like Jared, I also picked this up at Micro Center. In my case, for only $249! As someone who remembers working on IBM XT personal computers, it is astounding to consider the power and performance that can now be had for a pittance.I am an Apple user, but so far I have been reasonably well impressed with Windows 7. I downloaded Open Office (I absolutely detest the Microsoft "ribbon" interface) which runs great, and the machine streams movies well. Nice Budget Notebook - EASY MEMORY UPGRADE
This is a pretty nice notebook. The wide screen is crisp and clear. Default resolution of 1366 x 768 is quite acceptable. I paid 280 and bought a 4 GB memory module for 18 bucks. If you are upgrading the memory remove ALL the screws on the bottom of the notebook. Don't forget the 4 screws inside the battery compartment, and keep them separate from the others as they are smaller. All the other screws are the same size. Once all the screws are removed the back should come off. There are no ribbon cables to worry about. You just set the notebook upside down on a cloth on a table, remove all screws and pull the back plastic off. My fingernails are short and I was still able to gently pry the back off without a tool. If the DVD door cover comes off don't panic, just snap it back into place. Insert memory in the blank slot and screw it back together. remove the entire Presto, you have 6 GB memory. This is a snappy little notebook for under 300 clams. My Scores are Processor 5.3, RAM 5.5,...

Perfect for my use
So, this laptop is low priced, but high powered, at least for what I need it to do. I am pretty much like everyone else and just browse the web and check email on this thing and it does the job just fine for that. It is quick and clippy and I absolutely love having a number key pad. My only complaint about this is that it does not have a USB port on the right hand side of the laptop. Why is this important you ask? Mouse. I have a small travel mouse that I usually use with my laptops and with this one, it has to be plugged all the way on the other side of the laptop. It's kind of inconvenient, but not a deal breaker with me.This would be a great laptop for a kid going off to college or any casual user to just have around the house.BE WARNED: as with most new laptops these days, this one does not come with installation DVD's. That means that if you get a virus or something, you will not have a way to reinstall Windows. It does however have a method for...

I have had this laptop for 8 months now - I use it every day for work. MS Office 2003 working fine on it. I can even use Adobe Photoshop reasonably well.Key points:*Extremely low temperature at about 75-80 degrees - this is truly a "lap top"!*A little slow for heavy internet graphics*Sound card is not great, but I play all my music through airtunes to my stereo so I don't care so much*If you want to record internet audio, you will have problems - this is not the laptop for that use*LightweightIf you want a non-nonsense, no-frills laptop for low cost that runs MS Office and can use the internet, I don't know how you can beat this laptop.
