A reasonable alternative to the higher priced Nuemann U47
This microphone picks up the nuances of vocal takes in all possible "colors" if that makes any sense as opposed to most other mics that only capture most prominent sounds possible for a microphone in this price range.Having said that, you must realize that high end microphones means that their audio sensitivities are way up there in that they pick up sounds you never thought existed in your surroundings like the small freezer fan in the fridge downstairs behind multiple closed doors.NOTE: If your acoustic environment "issues" are not resolved ( or untested) this microphone will open up multiple problems such as humming noises from various sources that you previously did not realize existed.This is a very sensitive and probably one of the most acoustically sensitive microphones on the prosumer market.I use it mostly for voice overs and it is the best mic in my studio since it really captures all the inflections that are otherwise lost...

Changed the game for me.
I decided a while ago to upgrade my microphone arsenal. I had just he basics, sm57's 58's, the normal stuff. I did a lot of research and arrived at the TLM103. I got it a few weeks ago and am now in the process of re-recording old songs just because this microphone sounds so much better. It's like I've been driving a Ford Escort around all these years and just got a Cadillac. It's a huge difference, highly recommend it.

Pity the clueless & close minded, for ignorance is bliss.
For some people, hip hop slang sounds like a foreign language,...like when they here someone say "he done messed up my doobie dun" or " i gots to get my shape up yo"...all they hear is are a bunch of words that make no sense to them,... and for others kung fu films are only good to them if they are seeing exactly what they have seen a thousand times before with a overly carbon copied soundtrack and 80 minutes of filler spread out between a few minutes of fight scenes here and there.If this sounds like you then don't get this dvd, just order yourself another scoop of vanilla ice cream from somewhere else.But if you love comic book style video game graphic effects, the wordplay of Rap lyrics, the subversive intelligent humor found in the brains of hip hop music artists from around the world & can understand what they are saying or at least mean, as well as wall to wall fight scenes but not the boring parts of old kung fu movies, then this is the dvd for you...

A VIDEO COMIC BOOK FOR A NEW GENERATION !
Kung Faux reminds me of the coolest comic books I used to collect as a kid and hide from my mom. I was looking around for a shock mount to use with my new Behringer C1 condenser mike. The Samson mikes appeared to have the same mounting system so I took a chance and ordered the SP01. It fits and works perfectly with my Behringer mike! The mount appears to be well made, is attractive, and does the job.

Great Shockmount!! IT WORKS WITH ANY MIC STAND!!
I recently bought an Audio Technica 2020 and was looking for a shockmount for it, I bought the one that Audio Technica makes and I was not satisfied with the quality, so I returned it and came across the Samson SP01. My first thought was that it looked just like the shockmount I have for my Neumann TLM 103. I immediately purchased it after seeing that people were using it with the AT 2020. As soon as it arrived I put my AT 2020 in it and it looked stunning, after I mounted it on my on-desk mic stand I bumped the table a few times to see how it worked. In short it works great, The SP01 isolates the mic extremely well. I also tested the shockmount with my Studio Projects C1 and Rode k2 (both very heavy mics) and it works great. One word of advice it seems that some people are having problems hooking this shockmount to their mic stand ( which I find extremely amusing). Decent product, and works with an AT2020
A lot of people are attracted to Samson mics because they're affordable. The same people may also end up getting an AT2020 instead, which is another popular lower priced condenser mic. But, if those people want a shock mount for the AT2020, they'll find the Audio Technica shockmount is a bit expensive. FYI, in case you're in that situation, the AT2020 fits into this Samson shockmount quite well. The only thing to consider, and it's an aesthetic thing, is that the AT2020 is black, and this shockmount is silver, and it does look a bit dorky in between a black mic stand and a black mic (this shockmount was designed for silver Samson mics). But it's a good price.Edit: be sure to note the March of 2012 comment on this review; it appears things have changed since April of 2009.
