I have a Verizon iPhone 4 and ordered this from OtterBox before they were out at other retail stores. Fits great with no wiggle room inside. Great feeling case, doesn't feel like it's a fish and wants to jump right out of your hand. Easy access to all ports. The front pieces that protects the screen DOES NOT hinder any finger gestures what-so-ever. My OtterBox has paid for itself already when I had my hands full as I was getting out of the car and simply I forgot it was in my lap... after the solid hit to the cement and heart started beating again, I brought myself to assess the damage. There was NONE! Still works like a charm like it did right out of the box. No cracked screen/glass. The OtterBox is without a mark as well. OtterBox saved the day. Universal Design Fits Verizon iPhone 4 Perfectly
I have been searching for the Otterbox Defender specifically for the Verizon iPhone 4 and have yet to find it locally at any retail store. Since it is $50 at Otterbox directly (plus shipping) I waited until Amazon offered the universal design. I was hesitant as another reviewer said it did not fit the Verizon model. I believe that reviewer ordered it before the universal one was offered as this DOES FIT the Verizon iPhone. I tried the AT&T one in Best Buy and you are not able to mute the phone with that model unless you have microscopic fingers. This universal design fits the verizon phone perfectly and I have no trouble at all muting the phone.I can't attest to it's durability yet as I only got it yesterday but it is a solid case and has screen protection as well.Hope this helps if you are looking for a case for the Verizon iPhone.

*Updated 11/19/11First and foremost, if it's solid protection you're after (and if you're prone to dropping your phone) you need a hard case for the iPhone because it's made of glass. It's a great phone functionally, but if you drop it as is, you're done. Many have those slim, trendy skin cases but they will not protect the phone against a drop even if they look cool. Apple and Verizon don't seem to be up front about how delicate the phone is.I researched cases quite a bit and this one kept coming up. Highly protective, and it fits my Verizon phone perfectly. Works great with a verizon iphone 4! UPDATED, AND NOW 4S!
Seems that some AT&T stores have stocked these on their shelves a little earlier than most stores, so I grabbed one and put it on my iphone 4 right away. (Verizon iPhone 4, not 4S)As far as form and fit goes, it's really similar to the current iphone 4 defender series, the major differences are the cut outs for the front and the back. Also to make note, these cases work on ALL models of the iPhone, whether you have a sprint, verizon, or AT&T model, they'll all work.Otterbox's old defender series didnt properly work with the white iphone 4 due to the location change of the proximity sensor. People would be dialing with their cheek, ear, face, etc because the screen wouldnt shut off. Now with the larger cut out, otterbox has fixed this issue and made the case truly work with all models of the iphone 4/4S, both white and black.Otterbox has also changed the rear camera opening to be one huge opening. Nice upgrade from the original iPhone 4 Defender case
I used the original Otterbox Defender case for my iPhone 4s, and while it worked ok, this version is a definite improvement. The hard plastic case and the screen protector seem to be the same as the original, other than having larger cut outs for the camera/flash and the front camera/light sensor/proximity sensor area. I never had issues using the 4s camera with the older version case, but I did with the proximity sensor and this case fixes that issue.The holster has been changed to update the release mechanism. The tab that holds the phone in the holster has been shaped differently in order to make the phone easier to clip in and release.The biggest upgrade is to the rubber jacket that fits over the plastic case. The rubber seems to be of much higher quality. It has a firmer, more substantial feel, and doesn't seem like it will lose shape over time. I wish there was something a little better
This box is fairly good overall but it has a couple major irratating factors that may well be a buying point for many of you so I wanted to talk about a couple things that don't get mentioned very often.+ Great Protection and pretty much the best case if you want ideal protection for your iphone 4s from drops on the concrete / outdoor working environment. That's why i got it.- The screen cover is a thin layer of plastic that when sitting on top of the iphone creates a 'film' illusion where if you have good vision you will see a hazy layer. I think it's because there is a small space between the case's layer of plastic and the iphone's face that bends the light. Its quite annoying to me. I would prefer no plastic at all on the screen front and use a stick on clear protector over the iphone face.- The headphone jack is closed by a plastic piece that lifts up but it's annoying to have to fiddle with it to put in headphones.- The case...

If you're looking for the Super-Safe, Uber Protection for your iPhone, this case is it. It even has a built in screen protector that is smooth and flawless. I use it when boating, at the beach or by the pool. No, it is NOT waterproof... but definitely splash resistant. This case will protect your iPhone from drops, putting it in a purse, splashes and wet fingers/hands, etc. If you need extra protection this is the ideal case. It is sort of a puzzle to get on. So older hands may have a problem. Once on it stays there quite well... again, looks great too. Makes the phone larger, so if you'd like a larger phone in the hand feeling, this will help. Fits Verizon White iPhone 4
I received the pink and white case for my Verizon white iphone 4 yesterday. The case fits perfectly but I had an issue with the proximity sensor. Mine had a plastic covering with a vertical black strip over the proximity sensor. When I took the case off, the proximity sensor worked.This is what I did to fix the problem:I took the plastic covering off from the inside of the case.Cut the part off that covered the proximity sensor.Got a sharpie and outlined the inside of the case where the proximity sensor is.Placed the plastic covering back on (to protect the front camera).Placed the hard and silicone case back on the phone.Made a call and put my finger over the proximity sensor, it worked, then I put the phone up to my ear and it worked!I HIGHLY recommend this case to ALL iPhone 4 users. It's worth it!

Looks great, fits great, BUT...
This case is great but I found out after purchasing that it doesn't work with my new white iphone 4.Here's what otterbox.com says, "Not compatible with WHITE iPhone 4. Due to a slight change of the proximity sensor for the white Apple iPhone 4, the OtterBox Defender Series, Commuter Series, Reflex Series and Impact Series cases will not work with this new device."My screen does not go into locked mode (black screen) when I am on a phone call. I'm constantly dialing random numbers, turning on speaker phone, etc.

Dont listen to the poor reviews!!
So I have wanted one of these for a while now and went on and read a LOT of the reviews here on Amazon. To be honest some of the poor reviews had me a little worried! But I am leaving this review to ASSURE you that nearly ALL of the negative reviews were definitely coming from operator errors (if you get my drift) and people who didnt have ANY idea what they were buying...Clearly the Defender series is going to be a little beefy. Which I would HOPE is why your looking at this sort of case! For a big-bad iphone defending case! and that is JUST what you get! So the reviews on size I feel are unfair, based on the fact that you should have known its a sturdier case. (I find this NO problem for the protection it provides. Great Defense (especially for those Clumsy)
Honestly I was a little apprehensive about getting an Otterbox, due to the size/bulkiness of the case compares to a case-less phone but after breaking 3 iPhones due to dropping them I figures it was time. After a day or two, I was completely used to the case. I love the silicone portion as it helps me have a better grip so that I am less likely to drop the phone. It still fits in my back pocket as well (another thing I thought the size of the case wouldn't allow). Excellent case and quality. Snug fit but still allows full functionality while protecting your phone 100%!
