Wow!
I received this book at 10:30am this morning. That was a fast delivery! Although I wasn't aware of Shufu To Seikatsu Sha's work I was intriqued by the cover image before the book was printed. The images and instructions are better than I anticipated. I've been sewing for nearly 50 years so there wasn't any fear that I wouldn't be able to handle whatever was thrown at me. What's nice is that these simple patterns and clear instructions will give any beginner to novice a pleasant learning experience with a firm foothold of the processes involved. The patterns aren't fussy and are easy to transfer to a tracing paper (I know because I have already started!). I see now that I am going to easily have 5 new outfits when we go to visit my inlaws for this Xmas week.The only thing that I believe would make this book better is if it had been published with a wire spine. Great quality ebooklet
I am not a quilter, can't use a sewing machine. But I met the author online and we were discussing e-book options for crafters and she introduced me to her line of e-books. I downloaded this one to check it out and was/am very impressed with the attention to detail she provides. I think my mother-in-law would love her series and plan to introduce her to it.

You gotta start somewhere
This is a solid book recommended by the Sewing Association & after getting this I can see why. There is an intro the machine and hand sewing and then the all important hemming lessons. From there you start with t-shirts! Yes we're off and running already with garments. I was not prepared for this thinking I would be doing pillows and potholders and other nonsense, but no let's get practical. Garments like t-shirts, wrap skirts, pull on pants/shorts head the list. They tell you how to read the pattern and then guide you thru making the actual garment giving you hints and tips to making an easy & wearable piece.After garments we go home dec and do the pillows, curtains and shades. There are enough projects in here to keep you busy for about 6 months at which point you should know the basics & know where to go from there on your own. Daunting, eh? Well I was impressed and got going immediately. I got really psyched and I think a project a fortnight is doable...

Before this book, I thought I'd never learn to sew
Sure, your sewing machine retailer may offer lifetime lessons, but what about actual sewing projects? Was the last time you attempted sewing in middle school Home Ec? This book is the answer. It is very well-written with useful photos and highlights important information in a way that it becomes your working knowledge. It offers detailed instruction for window treatments including Roman shades, rodpocket, and grommet curtains, as well as a few clothing pieces. It also offers a section on reading sewing patterns, which can be intimidating to the novice. Other books I've seen have too much information, that it becomes confusing. This is perfect. If you have recently purchased your first machine OR want to do more with your sewing machine than let it collect dust but don't know where to begin, this is the book for you.

Light on the Basics, Heavy on Sewing Projects
If you want to learn how to sew women's garments or home decor items, then this may be a good book for you. But if you want to learn sewing basics using a sewing machine, or want to also sew men's garments, then buy a different book. The "Sewing Basics" section is about 50 pages long, half of which consist of descriptions and photos of tools and supplies. Instructions for basic sewing techniques are limited and brief. There are no comprehensive instructions on the various types of stitches.More than half of the book consists of "Home Decor" sewing, so, if that's what you're interested in, I recommend that you instead just buy the book "Home Decor Sewing 101" by the same author. I also bought this book, and while there doesn't appear to be overlap between the two books in regards to the projects featured, the Home Decor book is more comprehensive.I would have given this book an even lower rating, but, it deserves a few stars simply for the nice layout and...

Work Great and look awesome.
I have had this for few months now. It has been great. The zipper work smooth, all different sizes of pockets are useful. There are slot for pens, cards etc. The only thing would be, the stretchy knives slots does not quite keep the smaller knives in place. If you tilt the bag on its wrong side (which you might, sticking it in you other bag or backpack) the knives would come off its place. However with its double zipper cover all lid, the knives stays in. All and all great product. Good investment for ppl like myself (culinary art student).

Serviceable and sturdy, but could use more security
I bought this to carry my first decent knives between my room and the shared kitchen. I like the quality so far-- it seems durable, and it's light and easy to carry, and the cordura resists food stains (essential in a kitchen). One thing that irritates me about the design is that the knife pockets are shallow, and there's no added security like a strap or tie over the handles to keep them from slipping out. So if I'm not careful with how I carry the case, the knives do indeed slide out, rattle around, and could be dangerous if I'm ever careless undoing the zipper. This will last me for a long time, but if one of my friends is looking for a knife roll I'll suggest finding one with deeper pockets or additional security straps. There are additional pockets for things like business cards, etc. that I don't really have a use for, but probably someone will be very grateful for them.

Review After One Year Of Service
Got this one for X Mas last year and I have carried it five days a week during this time period. It has done it job but it could be improved on. The pockets could be deeper so that the knives do not move around so much. I highly recommend a set of those cheap o knife guards if you are going to use this product as I have pierce the side of the case when walking to and from work on more than once. I also had one of the seams along the edge split. A little superglue and it was fine, but once again a little more attention to detail on their part and I would be happier with it. I find that this bag has difficulty with larger knives, but anything with under an 8" blade was fine. Overall this is a decent bag if you are not going to overload the bag with larger knives, and you are willing to adapt to the bag. Otherwise spend the extra money and get a bag that is one step up from this.

It's a cool design
I bought the doodles design and I like it very much. It's an elastic band type so the edges are a bit difficult to manage but it's better than the old string type I am replacing. This is a one piece cover so there is not an inner layer to worry about. It is quite thick and nice to use.One thing to mention though, I did something stupid when I bought it. I just bought a new iron and I wanted to test it out on this cover, but since I had nothing on hand to iron, I just ironed the cover directly, this caused the stain/burn resistant coating to sort of come off (I think). Anyways, my stainless steel iron was covered with something, but it was easily washed off with a paper towel.All in all, I really like the cover, it's nice and thick, covers my ironing board well and it's relatively inexpensive.

LOVE IT
My sister and I bought this for my mother for Mother's Day. She sews every day and her old cover was falling apart. She was afraid she'd never find this one again and when she saw that I had found a replacement she was so excited. She LOVES the ruler and that there is a bag attached so she can keep her scissors or anything like that in there. I would definitely buy this again.
