Don't through money away on fertilizer
I grew up on a farm and I've been gardening for over 50 years. When I was a child, we took soil samples to our county agent every few years and guessed during the years between samples. That was not often enough for NKP or PH. The County Agent's report covered 6 or 8 more things such as borax, aluminum, and calcium. Those things change very slowly and only need to be tested for only every 5 to 10 years. In the fifties and sixties, we just assumed the soil would need lime each year; it was acid. However, the amount we used was calculated by rule of thumb. Others used the taste test; tasting the soil to tell if it was sweet or sour; better than nothing but very distasteful when the fertilizer of choice is manure.If you do no other tests, do this one! PH controls whether or not a plant can take up nutrients. All the fertilizer in the world will not help, if the PH is wrong. simple to use
I bought this item because my tomatoes were getting soft bottoms from excessively acidic soil last season. After liming and waiting a few weeks, the tester showed slightly acidic. Even though they are not ripe yet, the plants are obviously healthier and show none of the early sings of the problem. This product took all of the guess work out.

I dont know what others are complaining about but this PH meter is DEAD-ON ACCURATE!
I bought the Milwaukee PH-600 over 4 years ago to test the PH of my aquarium. It worked great (used it for about a year). I then got married and got rid of my aquarium and now after 4 years I found this meter in one of my old boxes.. it had been tossed around. I am setting up a new tank so I wanted to check and see if this thing still works so i bought 2 reference solutions (PH 4.0 and 7.0) and BOTH tests had DEAD-ON Accuracy!! NOT EVEN a tenth of a point off!! I have NEVER even calibrated it and its still running on the same batteries from 4 years ago! You have to leave it in the solution for 1 minute so the numbers stabilize. I almost bought a new PH meter but now after testing this I think I'll stick with it for a while. I dont know what the others are complaining about but if you use this properly it works great.

Great inexpensive PH meter.
Awesome, awesome product. It comes precalibrated, and is about as simple as it can get to use. Flip the switch, drop it in your solution, and read the digital display. I would recommend this product to anybody that needs to check the PH of water based solutions or something similar.

Does the job
I wanted an accurate, reliable meter to test my residential water supply. But I only needed to use it a couple of times a year so I didn't want to spend a fortune. I chose this one. I've it for about 2 years and it has worked as advertised.I use this unit a few times a year. It gives me repeatable readings with no fuss or bother. I have to calibrate it each time before use, but that doesn't really bother me because I use it so infrequently. Just be aware that if you want accuracy you will also need a ph standard liquid for calibration purposes.

They are easy to use and helps to determine if your body is too acidic or alkaline. Seem pretty accurate. Container could be a little more user friendly
Because we wanted to be sure that the pH strips we were purchasing were accurate, we bought two different types. We bought these (the Phinex) strips and we also bought the "PHion Balance PHion Diagnostic Ph Test Strips, 90-Count"Our family tested out both of the different strips over a few weeks and found that these strips (the Phinex) were much more accurate than the PHion strips.Water should have a pH of 7.0 so, assuming that our water is what it should be, we tested these strips and they were right on 7.0 from our water.We tested the other strips (the PHion) and they tested the water as 6.5-6.75.Testing ourselves, we found that the other strips (the PHion) tested more acidic than the Phinex.The only thing that we don't like about these strips (the Phinex) is that they come in a plastic container that makes it hard to get the lid on and off. It would be so much better if they came in a little bottle like the PHion do...

NOT-Defective (Phinex Diagnostic Ph 80ct - 2 pack)
This is my original:After reading a review, I tested both packs with distilled water (should be close to 7), both measured around 5.5 or so.Then got a NaCl IV from a doctor friend. this one supposed to be very close to blood ph of 7.35-7.45. they measured 5.5 and 5.75 or so.I'm returning it. Not happy at all as I bought it based on reviews. Darn it, it should NOT be difficult to measure PH level.This is the Edited version: I was wrong. after reading more about it, it does not work on water. I did more testing, and it's actually pretty good. I moved it form 1 to 4 stars. the missing info that took me at 2 hours worth or reading should not be missing, that's why not 5 stars.

It works fine
There isn't much that can be said about this type of product. It works.This is the specific type of test paper prescribed for medical testing of various bodily fluids by the Duke university hospital. That was my application and I selected it over others (including the same brand) for that single reason. It worked out.

Good product, slightly different than pictured
Strips do test well, there is some bleeding of dye though, so you do want to be careful about your dipping method, otherwise you'll have 2 readings on one piece of paper.One thing that I must point out is that the product is slightly different from the pictured one. The chart on these strips show WHOLE pH numbers. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11. There is no 6.0, 6.4, 6.8 and so on. Really wish I read the description more carefully.

i purchased this item after receiving an alarming result of my dog's urine analysis..professional lab result, & $50.00, showed a ph of 8.5..i immediately ordered these strips, first thing the morning after receiving the strips, tested urine was 6.5.....every morning result was the same 6.5...two subsequent diagnostic lab tests in the weeks that followed, with no treatment to cure an elevated ph, showed a ph of 6.5 exactly what these strips had told me.....if you need to check your ph, these strips really work.

Does not work with water
These strips do not work with water or any other non-ionized solution. See the PhIon FAQ on their site which says, "These strips do NOT test against water or chemicals. They need to be tested against high ionized solutions. Water is not a high ionized solution and other chemicals may dilute the strip to be unreadable."They do work with urine or saliva, but you cannot test them using water or other solutions.The product information on this should be updated to clarify this issue. There are several negative reviews where people think the strips do not work because there is no warning in the product information that the strips cannot be tested with water or similar solutions.

must have if your serious about ph levels
if your growing plants. then one of these is very handy. i ordered 5. and according to professional growers. ph test kits such as these are very suggested because they are very accurated. although expensive ph meter/ or test pens are also good, they are expensive around 80 and you can use it for a certain amount of times then you have to calibrate it again to increase the potency in accuracy. I avoid doing that because a good digital ph is like 80+ and plus the calibration to calibrate it back to default is extra. so i purchased 5 of these to get free shipping and got it. and each pack works for 250 times or 250 tests. so this is definitely a good deal to get. before you order make sure you find out the ph level you need to achieve for either your plants or fish tanks. instructions seems tricky at first but look at the same card. fill water till line. 3 drops. shake it up. and match colors. <4 simple rules. make sure to follow it. and this only tests from ph 6.0 to 7.6 so if you...

Easy to use
I don't have multitudes of pH testers around to attest to the accuracy, but it never gives me readings that seem off. It's easy and fast. I'm so used to my ammonia tester (that I use more often) that requires 5 minutes of waiting, it's nice to just put the water in, put the drops in, shake, and see what the water's at. This hasn't changed my life or anything, but it's everything that I wanted in a pH test kit.

Decent for Mid-Range Readings
I got this to test my pH while setting up a freshwater tank. Where I live, the water is quite hard, so I knew some adjustments would be needed. This is a very simple to use kit and the laminated card that tells you the explanation of the test result colors is great. However, because it only goes up to 7.5, I had to do a lot of guesswork to get my tank down to those levels. The color stays the same until the pH falls down to the levels this kit is designed for - not a design flaw at all, but it isn't the most effective kit when you live in a hard water area. I suspect the same would be the case if you live somewhere with very soft water, too.
