Nice platform!
I've been wanting to have a platform bed instead of the headboard. I found the South Shore full platform bed on Amazon.com and so decided to purchase it. It was a big package. At first it looks like a daunting job of assembling the plaform: how am I gonna assemble this platform by myself, I asked. Thank god the assembling instructions were clear and the pieces were labelled nicely according to the instructions, thus making the assembling work much easier. The only difficult part is carrying/lifting the pieces of heavy woods. Although I managed to assemble the platform by myself within an hr, I still suggest having two persons becasue the woods are big and heavy (considering the size of the plaform). I got a couple of cuts while lifting the pieces together. After the hard work, the platform was assembled nicely; it looks great and fits well with my full sized mattress. I was proud of my work and definitely very pleased with the platform. It was worth buying the South Shore platform.

I actually read all the reviews before I made my purchase because it did not have the best rating. I noticed how a lot of them complained that it was damaged upon delivery and/or that it was poorly made and had chips and broken pieces. I gave the company the benefit of the doubt and decided to buy the platform bed and I have to admit that I am very pleased with the product. It feels sturdy, looks nice and probably is best for young adults. I do have some tips so make sure you read them all. Oh and it was delivered intact without a scratch! 1. I strongly suggest using a drill ! 2. The item is heavy about 125 lbs so if you are by yourself or even with another person I suggest bringing it as close to your front door as possible and open the package there. Bring every piece to the room you will be using it in because it wont move after you finish it. Be careful not to damage the product whilst transporting the pieces. It will dent and scratch if not handled...

Great for the price
I have had this product for a week now and am very happy with it. We have been looking for a long time for a platform bed with drawers and most of the contemporary sleek designs would costs in the thousands. And honestly we like the look and where the drawers were located on this bed the best. We were definitely concerned about the quality of the bed, understanding the price we took a chance and bought the bed. We couldn't be happier. It arrived sooner then expected and we built it in that same day. I would definitely suggest taking your time when building it. I have learned from past experience that anything made from particle board and not solid woods you only have one chance to get it right. I build it slowly and with now problems. The beds has been very sturdy and solid. The corners are sharp, but they are corners it comes with the look. We haven't even been close to bumping into them. We love it and are very happy with our choice in this bed.

Great frame for the price, but with a few issues!
*IMPORTANT BUILDING TIP*: The metal rails for the drawers are attached and need to be seperated. The instructions only show you a picture of the rails being seperated, but they don't tell you why. If you don't seperate the metal rails you will believe you are missing a piece. One of the reviewers believed he received a defective frame twice, but he didn't know the rails were connected.If you have a box spring your bed will be waist high and it will not look like the picture if you have the headboard. The picture they use only has a matress and not a box spring. I build a lot of furniture and I can honestly say that the instructions they provide are very confusing, but for the price its worth it. The only thing I don't like is that there is nothing to hold the bed in place on the frame. If you bump into the bed it will slide on the platform .Other than that I really do like this frame and would recomend it.

Good for the price
for $139 bucks and free shipping, this bed is a good deal. Yes, it's 100% high density particle board, but you will be hard pressed to find something that isn't in this price range. I was looking for a good, sturdy, simple platform for my memory foam mattress, and that's exactly what I got. I don't know what's going on with all the negative reviews saying this thing is hard to put together. If you can put together a bookshelf from Wal-mart, you can put this together quicker and easier. It took me about an hour and a half to do it by myself and I didn't encounter any difficulty with it. The only part that is a pain is screwing in the moulding as the last step because you have to prop the bed up and get down there and screw upward. If you're trying to do this part alone, it will be made much MUCH easier if you have some sort of clamp you can use to hold the rail in place while you drive the screws in.Tips:Spend $10 and get some corner braces and a pack of very...

YOU'LL NEED A MALLET!!
Did you read the title of my review? If so good, because seriously, a hammer will not do. You'll NEED a mallet. That said,...assembly time (1 person) is about 90 mins. Less than 60 mins if you have an electric screwdriver with hex bit attachments. There are not a lot of different pieces used to put this together, so it's pretty straight-forward.As far as the design goes - pretty solid. This an Ikea'ish design and I like it. It's very sturdy and simple to put together. Once you DO put it together, I doubt you can take it apart - the plastic holders for the slats look like they're meant to stay in,...forever. You can easily get to the legs and remove those if your moving, but just so you know, okay? Are we cool? Yes? No? Anywayz, I'd say for the money it's a good buy. No box springs necessary since the wood slats bow upward providing that needed "cush".Thumbs up, yo!

great bed frame
I bought this frame about a month ago and assembled it myself. I spent about an hour to put it together and once I set my mattress on it, I just loved it. It is so stable and sturdy and doesn't make any noise. It seems to very strong as main frame is very solid metal. Even wood slates are strong and fits very tightly on bed frame, unlike IKEA's bed slates which keep rambling all time..I am very happy with this purchase and packing and delivery was also up to my satisfaction.A happy customer

Great Bed Frame
Very happy with the bed frame. Everything was exactly as expected. The frame is of steel and went together easily. There were plenty of slats for support of the memory foam mattress we purchased from COSTCO. I was able to press the slat clips on without a mallet as instructed. A socket wrench set and power screw driver will speed up the assembly. Looks like and goes together like an IKEA product. I have already recommended this to friends.

Very nice
This item is even nicer than it seems in the picture, I love my new bed and it even came with the nice wooden slats (the ones that flex). Be careful though, make sure that you measure everywhere so that you can be sure that the frame can fit up the stairs or in your elevator. The frame is one solid piece and very big. But once its all set up it is great!!

The best bed I have EVER owned!
This is by far the best bed frame I have ever owned. It actually saved my mattress. My previous setup included a framed on wheels, a box spring, and a mattress. With this bed, i was able to get rid of the box spring and frame and it added so much more support to my mattress (my old box spring was giving out). Whoever does the marketing for these beds should be fired. The pictures do it no justice and there is only one picture for the frame even on other websites, but it looks so much better in person.Also it is not possible to see the "platform" from the one picture provided. This bed is actually 2 pieces. The first is the chrome frame, the second is the platform that just drops down into the frame. This platform is metal square tubing with rounded corners and about 28 wood slats (14 on each side of the center metal support beam). These slats bow up slightly so when you look at the platform it has a shape like a lower case m, but when you place a mattress on it they...

Fantastic Bed
I have had this bed for a while now and I must say it's one of the most comfortable I have ever had. Plus, being a platform bed, I can easily slide thin tubs under it for storage. I have so much more space in my room and the bed is just a beauty to look at. If this bed ever wears down, which it shows no sign of doing anytime soon, I will definitely purchase another!!

Great Value but think before you assemble
So just a few quick points on this bed...1. The box is VERY VERY HEAVY.. easily weighs 200 pounds and is 7 feet long and 2 feet wide so be prepaired for that.2. This bed is NOT hard to assemble, I repeat it IS NOT HARD to assemble. You just need to take all the peices out of the box and lay them out on your floor and look at the instructions included. Make sure you are using the correct pieces before you start screwing everythign together and this is very easy to assemble. I did it by myself with a small screwdriver.3. The bed is VERY Sturdy and seems like it will last for awhile. It looks good and had zero damage on any of it. I will say this tho, make sure you have a bed that fits the platform pretty close, the matress board is bare particle board and doesnt look too hot. i have the 12 inch memory foam mattress with a down comfortor and it looks like a $2000 floating bed. :)Overall I give this a 4 out of 5 and recommend it to anyone...

A decent quality bedframe at a discount price.
This frame is basically what you would expect out of a sub $200 frame. Thick particle wood, utilitarian, decent quality (but not great). The assembly is the part most people will notice about this frame. Once you get it assembled, it is a reasonably sturdy frame that will look nice in a bedroom. Before that though, you will find some inconsistencies in the instruction manual and some of the pieces included. For example, the instruction say the frame should extend 118 centimeters from the base but also say that is the width of the pieces included to measure that distance, when it is in fact the length. Minor desriptive error, but not one that should have made it to press. The screws included are both weak and the wrong type. I would recommend taking them to a hardware store and getting some better quality screws designed to penetrate wood. The ones included arent. Additionally, the holes drilled into the frame dont necessarily line up. I kind of laugh at this because again, how hard...

pretty...when it's assembled! get good screwdrivers!
This item is exactly like it appears in the picture. Modern, sleek, really pretty, versatile and sturdy. However to get it to look like this, expect a few (to many) blisters on your hands. You absolutely NEED two sets of screwdrivers: a phillips head (long handle) screwdriver AND a flathead (long AND soft handle) screwdriver. The latter will become your best friend after putting this bed together! ATTENTION: you can't use power tools as they will likely break the wood... It is not impossible to assemble by one person alone. I did it and I am a non-experienced, not very strong woman. It did however take me 2-3 nights to put together and that is mostly because of the sheer number of screwing that needed to take place and the not-so-good screwdrivers at my disposal. I had so many blisters from trying to tighten all the screws through 2 or in some cases 3 sheets of wood that I had to take a night off from DIY-ing to recover.
