A nice tool to add to ones go-to drinking set
I had my skepticism, I start with that because if you like what you already drink what could an aerator do to it? Well it does enough for me to keep this little tool out and nearby my good alcohol. I did the old side-by-side non aerated to aerated single shot taste test. For the really cheap clear alcohol all I can say it does is make it have less of a burn while drinking and actually smooths out the after taste to a nice fade off. As for higher end, scotch in my case, I tried a 12 year single malt & a 17 year old single malt. Starting with the 17 year old scotch, this stuff is smooth and great to begin with, the side-by-side test concluded with the aerated scotch being much more floral/aromatic, the after taste was MUCH more enjoyable as it seemed to melt into a buttery feeling and just faded off into bliss.The 12 year old scotch, it's good on the rocks and a splash of water. Great Product
I must admit I was a bit skeptical about this product and the promise that it will actually enhance the spirits that flow through it. After now using it for a few weeks I can testify the product really does work. Side-by-side tests confirm. My bourbons poured through this product have more "nose" and I can clearly pick up on nuances that otherwise would not come through. If you are a serious bourbon drinker, this product is a must.

Great Way To Sample Blue
This is the genuine article Johnnie Walker Blue Label, packaged in a smaller, more affordable, 200mL bottle. On a per drink price, this is a more expensive way to buy Blue. If the price of admission for a 750mL or 1L bottle is too high or risky, this small size is a good deal for a first taste.Johnnie Walker Blue Label became my favorite Scotch whisky a few years ago when a good friend brought me a bottle as a gift for a party I threw (yes he is a great friend). I was a single malt fanatic, Lagavulin was my preferred Scotch, and I basically would drink nothing but single malt.Blue Label has changed my mind about blended Scotch. I love single malt whisky & US bourbon. I was somewhat skeptical that this glass would greatly improve my enjoyment but I'm now a believer! The glass truly does allow you to pick out the subtle nuances more precisely. If you're spending $50 and more on single malt scotch, why would you want to miss out on the nuances of each?The design of this glass is based on the traditional "nosing" glass used by master whisky blenders. The pinched waist holds the aroma and the tapering neck directs the bouquet up to your nose. The smaller opening keeps the air in the room from confusing your senses so you get a more precise "nose". A traditional nosing glass has no cuts in the glass or other decoration because it would distort the color of the whisky.The Glencairn glass was originally designed for pub/bar use so it is a sturdy little glass. Good quality, nice heft
A nice glass to enjoy your whiskey of choice. It looks nice on your bar and the set is perfect for enjoying something nice w/ friends.They have a good heft and even with my friend's rough use no problems. Not fragile, but not idiot-proof either. Haven't broken one yet. The shape really does seem to help focus aroma. Found these after another Canadian whisky set w/ a large maple leaf on the bottom (chose not to get those because of the leaf).After about 2-3 months use, i am seeing the bottom lettering be a little less distinct. Looks etched and the outside edge is the bottom contact of the glass - so i expect they will eventually wear smooth. No biggie but be aware.Nice glasses - definitely recommend the set.

Nice glasses, poor packaging
"Stolzle Glencairn Whiskey Glass Boxed" would imply that the items would come in a box. I ordered 3 glasses, one came in a box and the other two were wrapped in bubble wrap. Now I have to figure out how to wrap these as presents and provide the recipients with the product description so they know what the glass is and why it is special enough to be given as a gift. The glasses seem nice enough and I am sure the design is appropriate for whiskey, I just wish they had come packaged better.

Okay, I'll admit, I've read a number of novels where the hero enjoys sipping on a single malt scotch and I'm not entirely sure the differences, so I couldn't tell you if he was sipping on a good one or not. I also have friends who talk about various scotches and I can't contribute much to the conversations. Sure, I've enjoyed scotch now and then, and will again, but I really can't say I know that much.However, that is where "Michael Jackson's Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch: A Connoisseur's Guide to the Single Malt Whiskies of Scotland" comes in. This fully revised sixth edition, updated by Dominic Roskrow, Gavin D. Smith, and William C. Meyers, and published by DK, covers just about anything you would want to know about malts. It's not a book to read cover to cover, unless you are really into scotch and enjoy reading reviews and tasting notes on over 1,000 malt whiskies, with vintages from 1926 onward, including reviews of over 500 new bottlings. 6th edition for 2010: Definitive Scotch guide
Although Michael Jackson has passed away, the update of the classic guide to single malt Scotches has gone ahead. The 2010 update looks very good and includes most all of the (extensive!) Macallan information from . This is the book to get, even if the reviews themselves sometimes seem less than internally consistent (high praise but lower score, or vice versa). Still, the reviews do carry with them a lot of the character of the Scotches being described. And for the more collector oriented, nowhere else will you get the vintage-by-vintage tastings.

A good attempt at updating the classic
Michael Jackson died in 2008 and his book had not been updated since 2004. The malt whisky industry has changed greatly since then. The goal of these three editors was to update Michael's classic book while trying to do it as he would have himself.The layout of the book is in alphabetical order by distillery. There is a short half-page introduction to each distillery, a sentence on the distillery's house style, followed by very short reviews and ratings of several whiskies from the distillery. Many reviews also include a picture of the bottle label. The beginning of the book starts with a general introduction to whisky, left mostly untouched from how Michael wrote it.The goal of the editors was to keep as many of Michael's original reviews as possible, while updating them with reviews of new whiskies and removing outdated whiskies.
