Great product for the price
After my house was broken into I wanted to get an alarm but didn't want to pay any companies or commit to any monitoring contracts. This fit the bill perfectly. It works great once you plan around some caveats.Pros: very simple operation. I've only had it two weeks but seems reliable so far. Easy to set up. The remote works well, but it's too bulky for me to carry around. So I just use a PIN code when I come and ago. I love the flexibility of this system. It's easy to add sensors or accessories. Compared to a pro alarm, the stuff is very cheap but built decently. It doesn't quite have the build quality "feel" of a pro system but it's simple and for the money works well. I love how it's all wireless. I"m a renter and don't want to drill holes or pull wire in walls and this is perfect.Cons: The control panel (SC-001), PIN pad and siren are all one unit. So Far, So Good
At the time of writing this review I have only had the system up and running for about a month. So far, I have not yet had any problems, and don't anticipate any to come up. I would rate this product with 5/5 stars, but a few minor things kept me at a 4/5, even though I am very satisfied with this product.First, be aware that the system comes with only a few pieces, and you will most likely need to buy extra motion sensors and/or door sensors if you own a house. I personally - after inquiring of the company - bought two SC-100 systems so that I would have extra sensors and because I was informed that they are compatible and work together. This is mostly correct. The two systems can be programmed so that all of the sensors activate both alarms at the same time (and therefore you have two separate alarms sounding, making it all that much more difficult for any crooks to disable), but both can only be activated or deactivated SIMULTANEOUSLY if you are using the remote clicker...

Effective, Cheap Security
I've had my system for 6 months and just replaced the batteries in the motion detectors. I assume that using better quality batteries than those provided will mean changing them closer to once a year. Not bad at all, given that I don't have to run any wires to these locations.I opted not to use the window/door sensors, as they look somewhat tacky in my opinion. Instead, I got a couple extra motion detectors to provide complete coverage of my house. The sensors are somewhat adjustable. On the default setting, they do pick up my 4 pound dog.In the past 6 months, I haven't had any false alarms where I couldn't determine the cause. There have been several days where I forgot to disengage the system and walked right through the motion detection field. I purchased this system because there has been a prowler in our neighborhood and I discovered footprints around a few of my windows. I am only using the motion sensor and have purchased several additional motion sensors. All of the sensors are mounted outside and pointed along the walls of the house with particular focus on window areas. The control panel has lights for four zones. In my case I plan on using one zone to identify each side of the house. Multiple sensors (up to six) can be associated with each zone. Just Got Mine Yesterday
Hi everyone, i ordered the Skylink SC-100W (newer model) and received mine 2 days ago. I set it up yesterday. Since the system comes pre-set it only took me 30 minutes. The only thing i had to change was the passcode. The motion detector alone would have been enough for me as that thing is as sharp as a needle. Since i have no pets and no kids i have mine on high and it's great. The window/door sensors took a bit of playing around with but they're working fine (for now). I have my alarm on "Chime" mode because the siren is extremely loud, my ears were ringing all night after i had tested it. However i have great comfort knowing i can use the panic button on my keychain to activate the siren if i feel i'm in danger. It's so loud that my neighbours will hear it and will be calling 911 in no time. I had the alarm on all night and had no false alarms. It has only been 1 night but i am very happy with the system. I'm told this a newer model, i'm not quite sure how it differs from the...

Extremely simple, effective, and VERY loud alarm system
I live in an apartment and wanted to add an inexpensive alarm system that could serve as a deterrent to intruders. I know that this GE system cannot substitute for a centralized alarm system in which authorities/police are immediately notified, but I felt that the activation of a loud alarm could scare off an unsuspecting burglar and was far better than not having any alarm system. It could also serve to wake you up at night as soon as a window or door is opened, giving you precious seconds to call 911, freak out, pray, reach for your 9mm, etc. (I mean this jokingly, but nevertheless, it is better than waking up to an intruder by your bedside.)The main door unit is extremely easy to set up. You unscrew the back and install 3 AAA batteries and program a 4 digit code. You can also set the device to serve as a simple door chime, instead of an alarm if you desire. Door and Window alarms are very audible and effective.
After reading the reviews posted here, I was actually surprised at the loudness of the 3 window alarms. Perhaps the batteries were fresh, because all of the window and the door alarms I received are piercingly loud at 120-decibels. The kits I received did come with all the necessary screws and double-sided tape to install the door and window alarms. But, I used double-sided Velcro tape (as recommended by a reviewer) and this has worked like a charm! Using chime mode, the kits have been very effective alert systems for toddlers in the house. Also, if strategically placed, a burglar won't be able to see the window alarm attached to the frame. It would be nice if the chime made a double set of 'ding-dong' sounds instead of a single set, but this is the only mild complaint I have about chime mode. The door alarm is pretty loud, but the screws to mount the sensors, which are mentioned in the instructions, aren't included. Break-In Prevented
I purchased the SC-1000 system several months ago. It was very straightforward to set up. I use it in silent mode as the siren cannot be heard outside of the house. I disabled the siren manually. If the system is triggered the first sound you hear is the dialer repeating the emergency message I have recorded. This prevents a burglar from finding the unit and ripping out the phone cord. So by the time they hear the message, it's too late.I live alone on the edge of Detroit and have it set up to dial my cell phone if triggered. I have been in "test" mode as I have a cat and didn't want to call the police with a false alarm; no false alarms for three months.Earlier this week the system called me with an alarm. I work 40 minutes from home and decided to check it out as a possible false alarm. It wasn't. The thieves had broken into the house through the back door. They must have heard the message and left immediately because nothing was taken; even some cash...

Works perfectly - love the key fob!
We purchased this because we basically wanted something for our French door. My husband is very careful about making sure all the doors are dead-bolted at night, but the French doors seem awful easy to kick in if you really wanted to. Additionally, we have a couple teenagers, and we sleep on a different floor than they do. We don't want anyone sneaking out at night. ;) So, we purchased this system to cover a couple windows and the French door, and to allow us to sleep a little easier. ZMODO DVR systems
Do your research. I've seen a lot of bad reviews for Zmodo DVR's on other websites from people that don't know anything about CCTV IR based camera systems...I own 2 of these DVR systems, in my experience they are the best. For years I struggled with PCI based DVR solutions, (SAMS club specials to) they ALL SUCK. The software for all PCI based cards is the same Chinese garbage. No support, no updates, short operational life.Out of the box the Zmodo systems work very well and without hassle. Not bad for the price
If youre looking for hi tech crystal clear images and detailed images, move on. If you just want a basic, easy to install CCTV system this is great. Its as easy as mount the cameras with 3 screws, plug the cameras into the cables, run the wires to the unit and plug them in. Its easier than the average surround sound system.the night vision is OK, works well in darkness up to about 10 feet; the images are black & white though. The overall image quality is OK, if someone is within about 15 feet the image is clear enough to recognize a stranger by the photo. Past 30 feet you'd have a hard time distingushing between Jessica Simpson and Hillary Clinton. When you attempt to 'zoom' the image it gets very grainy, so forget that idea. Be warned - remote feature is very hard to set up!
If you are looking for a basic surveillance system, this one will do just fine. The picture is OK, not crystal clear but good enough. I love the motion detection, night vision, and snap shots via email that you can set to receive in 1-10 min intervals. As to the installation ... If you have no IT background, you can probably still get through the basic installation fine. However, if you are going to try to set up the remote viewing feature, be warned that the instructions are not clear, and the pictures included with the instructions are not readable at all. Yes, you can call the tech support, but prepare for a LONG hold (and only during business hours - no weekends, no evenings). I was on hold for 67 minutes and spent another 1.5 hrs on the phone with the tech who helped me with the remote and iPhone set up. I thought to myself: this is a person who does it for a living, and it took him 1.5 hrs to set it up, how is someone like me without any IT background supposed to do that? The...

A lot better than expected
I usually don't write reviews, but in this case I felt that I had to. This unit was very easy to mount and run wires for. The picture quality is very very good, especially for the price. I have friends who install these types of systems all the time, and they couldn't even come close to the price of this system. I have worked with cctv systems in the past, and the usb flash drive backup is a very nice feature. With a 500gb hard drive, you will get a couple of weeks of video that you can review. I cannot speak as to the longevity of this system, as it has only been installed since yesterday, but so far, I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

Cameras - Pretty good pictures. On nice clear night the IR even picks up pollen floating in the air.Video Cables - 4x65FT more than enough for the house system was installed in.Power Supplies - Would have been nice if they had ONE central power supply instead of the individual power adapters for each camera. Had to get extra power strip to accommodate them all.DVR System - Looks to be pretty nice system.Location installed is without Internet service so can't comment on the remote viewing options.System installed in siblings house on 10/30/2010.The most difficult part of installing this system was running the wires.
