Works great
I was really surprised at how heavy the pan was. I am a little worried about the wooden handle though. The handle screws into the pan, but to me it doesn't seem very sturdy. We'll see how it holds up after a few months. As expected, it only came with the pan. There appeared to be a recipe on the back but it's all in Japanese which I don't read. I found my recipe online instead. The first few batches didn't turn out very well due to errors on my part, but soon they were looking similar to the ones I had in restaurants.Overall it's a good product.

Takoyaki Pan -- Sturdy and easy to use.
This pan does have a screw-on handle, but I had no problems with it loosening once it was tightened on (by hand). The pan itself is made from heavy cast iron, but with a smooth finish, so with the proper amount of oil the takoyaki won't stick. The only instructions are in Japanese, but a quick search on the internet will yield plenty of recipes and directions. So far we have made about three batches, and on average, only 1 in 12 balls didn't turn out... and this was our first time ever making takoyaki!

So Happy!
I bought this for a fellow Takoyaki lover and we did great! It was very easy, and after a few YouTube videos, we were making wonderful Takoyaki in no time!

I love this!
I always wanted to try takoyaki, make it myself you know. With this Takoyaki Pan I could. As the first reviewer said, it is heavy, but it's not bad. The Pan itself is big enouf to fit on a small burner on the stove. When I first opened it I was surprise how big the semi-spheres where, just good enouf to make the perfect size octopuss ball. Plus it comes with a pick, and a brush to oil the pan, cause it's not stick proof. So anyway, it's a good product and all. The shipping was fast and on time .

Fast shipping
Very fast shipping. Product received as expected. I've used it twice already. I place it over my stove top to use. One thing to be careful about is when using your home burner, the flame intensity is focused on the center pieces and will tend to be done sooner than the outer pieces. Size of takoyakis are good.

Good Takoyaki Pan
This pan is real cast iron. It's not nonstick; although, from the picture it appears to have a Teflon coating. I recommend that you "season" the pan before use or else your batter will stick and burn. It's very heavy for its small size and does weight close to 5 lbs. The more you use it the easier it will become to cook with. Other than takoyaki, I've made mini ebelskiver (pancakes) and they came out perfectly! Cook them on lower heat than you would takoyaki or else the outside will cook too fast and you'll end up with runny pancake batter on the inside.

great pan
This is a great little pan! My daughter loves eating little pancakes and muffins, all we've made so far. For her the size of the cakes is just right. The extras are great for snacks or freezing for later use. Line up the outstide cups on the burner grate and it works fine. The pan is cast iron sooooo wash it in hot water, rinse in hot water, towel dry then heat it on your stove top on low heat. While it is still warm, smear a good layer of vegetable shortening on it, set it in an aluminum foil pan, and bake it at 250 - 300 for an hour. Turn off the oven and leave the pan inside until it is cool. The pan is now seasoned, yeah! After you use the pan wash it in hot water, rinse in hot water, towel dry and heat it on a burner on low heat. When it is dry I spray it with cooking oil and let it set for another minute then turn off the burner, it is then ready to use next time. Standard operating procedure for all my cast iron.

Yes, it's very tiny!
I was curious about making these pancakes, so I ordered the cheapest pan I could find. If you, too, are simply curious, I would recommend this pan. It took forever to make the entire batch from the recipe I used, simply because they are so small, but it made a lot. If you are an old pro at making these and would like to make it a family ritual, then I would spend more and get a bigger size pan. If you simply want to try making these, this pan should be sufficient.

We love it!
We were a little nervous using this item in the United States since the voltage is different here, but we haven't had any problems. My husband grew up in Japan, and LOVES being able to make takoyaki right here in Kansas! Great product and easy to clean.

I love takoyaki
Great for making takoyaki, or even for making pancakes. I have brought it to work and made pancakes filled with bacon or chocolate chips or bananas or blueberries... Always a hit. Just make sue to use wooden or silicon instruments to turn the takoyaki so you don't scratch the nonstick coating.

works in the US, nonstick and easy to clean
I received this as a gift from hubby (included in my wish list) last Christmas, and today (a snow day) if the first time I and my sons have used it (we had fun!). It really is a good family bonding time as teamwork is quite necessary to grease, fill these with the batter and filling, and flip (using chopsticks). We were like an assembly line. We made Æbleskiver, actually, as we don't have the ingredients for takoyaki, and we are not sure we will like them. We used different jams as fillings. Perfect bite-sized pieces. I did have to turn off the gadget at some point because we were too slow and some of the pancakes were burning. The pan is removable, and can be cleaned by wiping with damp washcloth.

Upodate: So cute and very functional!
After I recvd this one, I asked my Korean friends to read the instruction for me. I am quite sure any items to be sold in the US, one needs to have instruction in English. This is not the case. Anyway, the instruction was to tell you to be careful in handling this pan - they will be come very hot during cooking.I used waffle mix and put some red bean paste (Oriental store) as fillings and make some fish cake, very cute. I also used raspberry and blueberry as alternatives. I am going to let my imagination juice flow and seek for some other fillings. (Chestnut paste, sesame paste, berries w/marmalade, custard cream........) Um..... they are so yum yum.I'd recommend using waffle mix rather than pancake mix - waffle mix gives you a much lighter and fluffier texture. However, if you'd like to have a fish with substance (smile), use pancake mix - the texture is much more heavy. Just like a pancake fish and fillings cannot be easily put into the fish...

Tasty Taiyaki at Home!
I searched online for quite a while before finding this taiyaki-ki (taiyaki cooker). All the others I found were either in Japanese-only site or much too expensive. I stumbled across this one by accident, and a happy accident it was!Taiyaki are tasty little fish-shaped cakes with red beans in the center. That doesn't sound that good, but Japanese red beans - anko, or adzuki - are sweet and quite suitable for snacks and desserts. Taiyaki are easy to make, which is good considering that the packaging and documentation for this cooker is all in Japanese.Basically, you heat this over your stove. I tried using it on an electric burner, and believe it or not it works just fine that way. Heat the taiyaki-ki up on both sides until water sizzles on the cooking surface, then give it a light dash of cooking spray and spoon in a thin layer of batter, working from the tail to the body. (You can Google up a recipe, but I'm lazy and use pancake mix.) Add some red beans to...

Just as advertised...
I live in Japan and my kids love these 'cookies'. The item did seem a little flimsy because the hinges are loose; but as I've used it I understand now that it has to be that way to accommodate the rising batter that is cooking inside. There are no directions in English on the box, but a Korean friend of mine translated for me, and everything is as you would expect (not too high of heat, don't heat the handle, don't let children use it, etc.) All in all, it is exactly what I paid for and it works great!
