Product Description

Media artist Toshio Iwai collaborated with Yamaha to design a totally new musical instrument. Tenori-on combines a MIDI controller, tone generator, sampler and stunning visual user interface. Most importantly it’s a unique new way to approach playing and composing music. Music instantly becomes a wall of light graffiti as you paint the sounds across its 256 LED buttons. The new lower priced O model is functionally exactly the same as the original W except its 256 orange LEDs are on one side of its unique hands on interface and it does not operate on batteries. The Tenori-O will appeal to producers, music production home studios and anyone who wants to start instantly making music visually. Top to learn more

VEry cool but...
I really was super excited to get my Tenori-on Orange. And I was not dissapointed in what I was able to do with it and how fast i was able to figure it out. However when I realized that the Orange version which is priced more reasonably than the Tenori-on White one, was not available Battery accessible i was dissapointed and decided to return it and go for the more expensive white one.I like the thing though and will have hours of fun on it. I think you will to.

Great price for the features =)
I plan on a video review of this great little device later.Think Geek shipped it through Amazon quickly. It arrived well packaged and without issue.I opened it up and was happy to find the aluminum faceplate on it. This is akin to other small electronic devices such as the Korg Kaossilator and Korg miniKP Kaos Pad that I plan to use the Bliptronic 5000 with on my DJ rig.I plan to use the Bliptronic as sort of a musical metronome that I can mix beats into and out of on my DJ set. I plug the bliptronic into my Mini-KP Kaos Pad and then into my DJ mixer and amplifier so I can make it very loud and change the sounds of it radically. I then mix beats to it with my CDJ DJ system.Sounds really cool. I will make a video later once again. Everyone is currently sleeping and it's too early to rock the house. As for the unit itself,The knobs are a bit hard to work with since they are smooth. Serrated knobs would have been better or easier to...

Product Description

At once a minimalist musical plaything and a hardcore old-skool synthesizer, the Bliptronic defies categorization as it belts out 8-Bit style style tunes from its grid of glowing buttons. You'll notice sound similar to a retro Casiotone with an interface not unlike a simplified Yamaha TENORI-ON... if that makes any sense. close-up Bliptronic Philosophy... in Regards to Music In the world of the Bliptronic, creating a song revolves around an ever evolving 4-beat pattern. Each row of vertical buttons represents the notes in one octave. Push a button to turn on a note, push the button again to turn off a note. Push multiple buttons in one vertical row to make a chord. The Bliptronic plays whatever you have selected in sequence horizontally across the display. When it reaches the end of the pattern, it repeats. The genius comes as you modify the pattern by turning notes on and off while the pattern is still looping to create evolving electronic melodies. playing in a group Knobs and Buttons, There are Some In addition to the grid of glowing LED buttons you'll notice some other controls on the Bliptronic. These allow you to set the tempo (From 60-160 BPM), choose the instrument (From 8 different retro-synth type sounds), adjust the volume and turn looping on or off. A big "play" button at the bottom makes the Bliptronic uh... play. If you hit it again it stops. Yep. looks stylish The Bliptronic is a Social Butterfly One Bliptronic is grand, but more Bliptronics are even grander. An infinite number of Bliptronics can be attached together using the link ports and included cables. When one Bliptronic reaches the end of it's pattern, the next Bliptronic is instantly triggered to start playing. This allows you to make longer songs where each person controls a section of the song. You can even set the tempo and instrument differently on each Bliptronic in the chain to achieve unconventional musical results. Top to learn more

Completely changes the experience of working in Live.
I make music for fun. I don't even think I'm very good at it, but I can spend hours and hours making loops, adding layers and sampling stuff on Ableton Live. This product allowed me spend a lot less time using the mouse, specially once I get most of my samples down and want to start stitching things together. I love the lights, feel of the buttons and actually focusing on the music, and the flow of things instead of running with the mouse to activate clips.I have also tried using it as a step sequencer and it's a lot of fun. At the price it's at right now, it's a great option for people like me.

Emulates the Monome 40h at a fifth of the price. Launches Live clips as expected
The launchpad is an elegant and minimal grid of 64 buttons. Unlike the Ableton grid controller, the launchpad's 8x8 grid of buttons makes it a perfect device for emulating the Monome and running any of the many Monome apps. Search for "nonome" and you will find plenty of information on turning the launchpad into a universal grid controller. The only downside seems to be that the Launchpad requires a driver, and that it speaks slow MIDI rather than the faster and more flexible OSC protocol. Given the very low price, it is easy to overlook these compromises.I was also surprised that Novation used a full sized USB-B plug rather than the Mini-B that my Korg and...

  • Innovative control over your mix: Including volume, pans, sends, track arming, soloing and muting. Launchpad lets you jump to different levels across eight channels at once.
  • Sketch out beats: Launchpad can be used to play drum racks, creating beats and triggering samples in real time.

  • Flexible trigger platform for Max MSP and Reaktor programmers: Programmers can utilize variable brightness and multi-color LED states to their full advantage when designing new and innovative tools in Max MSP and Reaktor.
  • Launchpad and Max for Live: Max is a visual programming environment that allows you to custom build instruments and effects. Launchpad can be used to control these instruments. For example, parameters on Max for Live's step sequencer can be triggered using Launchpad's buttons. Launchpad gives you a huge amount of visual feedback. Mostly A Great Clip Launcher
I have owned one of these for four months and have gotten a good grasp of its relative strengths and weaknesses. The Launchpad is a natural extension for Live's Session View. There is just enough visual information implanted on the interface for you to identify clips easily. The User1 User2 modes are great for a few MIDI triggers but lack any serious expression as the pads themselves aren't velocity sensitive. The mixer mode might be useful for some but I never touch it due to the limited resolution of expression and the immediacy required for their proper function (if minimalism is your goal in this department, seek the ). The saving grace, outside of its Session mode, is the user created software. The Launchpad has been transformed into a monome like device, a visual harmonic table, a step...

Lovely Piece of nostalgia
This is something I bought for just because I needed a portable keyboard on the go. I have fallen in love with this piece of equipment. Not only was it cheap , but it can play in three octaves using a switch and it can bend pitch almost up an octave. It also works as a portable speaker (sadly its Mono). You can also use it with earphones or a Amplifier. Overall this stylophone synthesizer is loads of fun.

the perfect toy!!
just got this in today, and i love it, it has that now antique synth sound, like out of a fellini movie, response is excellent considering the price, nice and loud, with three dif octaves and a pitch knob on the bottom, i love it, you cant get sounds from scary movie to church organ, and to beat all that, very very cool design, it looks like a anacronism embedded in the dashboard of a 57 chevy, or imagine a furturistic 350 style top panel on a fender tube amp, ok thats silly, but this things cool

Product Description

The Stylophone is a miniature stylus operated synthesizer invented in 1967 and used by such iconic musicians as David Bowie, Kraftwerk and Erasure. It features a metal keyboard played by touching it with a stylus. That's right, over four decades ago with computers the size of a gymnasium and nary a PDA in sight the Stylophone was a portable electronic music instrument with stylus based control. This exact recreation of the original sounds the same as it did in the 60s. Simply remove the pen and tap any key for classic synth sounds. There is a switch to add vibrato and you can choose from one of three different retro organ type sounds. The tuning knob on the bottom allows for some pitch-bend effects if you must. The Stylophone is one of the simplest electronic instruments you will find, but it's minimal style is a big part of its charm.

Requires 3 AA batteries (not included)

Cool Instrument
I recently saw this thing for 25% off, and thought i'd give it a try. I wasn't sure what it would be like, but it is pretty fun. My favorite thing about the new stylophones is the MP3 jack, you can play your mp3s through the speaker and jam along, it's quite fun. I might have given it five stars, but after about ten minutes of playing the keyboard area was obviously scratched by the stylus. I'm betting the build quality is not as good as the original, but hey, it works and is very cheap to buy.If think you might like it, go for it. Even if it does break later on you barely spent any money on it and you had some fun.

Almost limitless
Ok, so this thing is kind of a toy, but my oh my, what a toy it is. I'm absolutely in love with. I'm kind of an acoustic musician. I play acoustic guitar (don't even own an electric) and upright bass, and any other box of sound I can get my hands on. Most synths and whatnot never seemed worth my money. I saw this little guy when I went searching for something I could use with special-needs students. I wanted something you could produce sound on without needing to know anything about playing an instrument. The price was right, so I got it, and the kids have loved it. I first thought it was a nice toy for the classroom, but then I started practicing on it myself, and I just couldn't believe how involved you can get with it. Once you unlock the little loop extender (from 8 beats to 16- you can find the trick on Korg's website) you can really get inventive. Anyway, for those thinking about it, whether or not you're experienced in music, it's a whole lot of fun and it can be very...

KAOSS fans will Love the KAOSSILATOR
The Korg Kaossilator is billed as a `Dynamic Phrase Synthesizer' and if you want phrases to loop and make your own creations, this is the machine.Dynamic = The X-Y touchpad surface allows for limitless real time manipulations of patches. Phrase = This is a phrase machine. Each preset is a sound/phrase. Other Kaoss Pads had some synth and drum sounds, but were also effects processors; the Kaossilator is all about sounds and loops and making its own noises, rather then manipulation of others; hence no inputs on the Kaossilator. The Kaossilator looks similar to the other member of the Kaoss Pad family, this time in yellow. About 4 by 5 by 1 inches; 4 `AA' batteries power it and free it from AC supplies. Front panel has the touch pad, knob for selecting patches, and three buttons for controlling record/play, scale, tap tempo, and other parameter. RCA outs on top next to the AC jack.Fans of the Kaoss pads should love it. This fills the void for Kaoss fans...

Great meditation device, too
Took me all of about 30 minutes to master the button combos needed to build, save, and edit some very satisfying multilayered loops. Those who haven't really put one to good use may dismiss it as a toy, perhaps because it's so easy to use and appeals to more than just trained musicians. But it's an extraordinary little device, particularly considering its portability. I just want to mention one unexpected benefit that I've realized: it's a great tool for meditation. Something about slowly building loops (starting with a thick, swampy bassline for example, or just a string of distorted, echoing phrases), and hearing them go round and round and round in your head . . . it becomes like chanting a mantra. At the end of a session, I feel as if I'm waking up from a deep, hypnotic trance. If you work for a living, include about 15 or 20 minutes of Kaossilator in your lunch hour. Great stress reliever.

The Korg KAOSSILATOR

Meet your new musical addiction. Click to enlarge.

Innovative touch-pad control controls separate parameters along X and Y axes.

Features stereo RCA output and headphone jack.

100 Playable Synth Programs
The KAOSSILATOR offers 100 unique patches for you to play, from nautral instruments to synth basses and leads, including ten drum patterns and 31 musical patterns. Sounds include:

  • Preset drum/bass grooves with flexible effects
  • Fat synth lead sounds
  • Acoustic instruments like trumpet, digeridoo, sitar, and more
  • Tap-able drum voices
  • Extra thick and juicy basses
  • Complete chords with filters and other effects
  • Space-age sound effects to send your loop beyond the cosmos

Innovative Touch-Pad Control
This is what defines Korg's entire KAOSS PAD/KAOSSILATOR series, and what made 'em such a hit. You play the KAOSSILATOR by moving your finger around on (or tapping on) the touchpad, thereby controlling the sound. The parameters controlled by the X axis and Y axis depend on the preset (for example, a bass synth might feature pitch along the X axis and filter resonance along the Y axis).

Scale/Key Controls
It may not have keys, but the Kaossilator can still play a hook. It lets you control a full two octaves of notes just by touching the pad. To make sure you're playing in the same mode as everyone else, you can choose what kind of scale to use, from 31 different options. You can also set the root note, including flats and sharps, so you're always in tune no matter how wacked out you get on the effects.

Adjustable BPM and Gated Arpeggiator
To get the beat to your desired BPM, you can select a normal MIDI tempo or enter a tap tempo with your finger. The built-in Gate Arpeggiator repeatedly triggers sounds in sync with the tempo. The slider controls either the gate time or gate speed. 50 different gated arpeggiator types are included.

Loop (Phrase) Recording
The KAOSSILATOR can record and playback phrases and patterns that you play on the touch pad--loop style. During playback, you can play along. You can even add another layer to the loop recording. This process can be repeated, adding several new layers. Recorded phrases can be up to 8 beats (2 bars of 4/4) in length.

Portable KAOSS
Create some chaos anywhere you go. The KAOSSILATOR is eminently portable, weighing in at 5.43 oz without batteries, and with dimensions of 4.17 x 5.08 x 1.14 inches. It's powered with four AA batteries, for up to about five hours of operation. You can also snag an optional AC adapter for plugging it in.

RCA/Headphone Outputs
The KAOSSILATOR features a dual RCA stereo line out, for quick connection to mixers or interfaces, and a mini headphone out, for using on the go.
