Outstanding Student Trumpet
I purchased the LJ Hutchen brand trumpet from Hyson Music for my middle-school aged son and am extremely satisfied with the product. This trumpet is a quality instrument with excellent tone and smooth valve action. As someone who has played a vintage Reynolds trumpet for about 30 years, I can tell you that the LJ Hutchen is an excellent instrument for the beginning or intermediate musician. It also came in an attractive and sturdy case. In my experience, you will not find a better quality trumpet anywhere near this price range. My hat is off to LJ Hutchen company. I will also add that the folks at Hyson music shipped it REALLY fast. I ordered via Amazon on Monday night and had the trumpet on my doorstep on Thursday morning (in VA). It has been a great purchase in every respect, and my son is glad to have a shiny new trumpet!

I'll Toot This Horn
I played trumpet for years in high school and college, and I had an old Doc Severinsen model that I had a crystal clear beautiful sound with. Several years ago, I purchased an inexpensive trumpet and it sounded like garbage. I've decided to get back into playing again. Based on the reviews, I decided to go "cheap" and try this one. By "cheap" I mean as compared to the $500+ I could spend on what I knew would be a high quality instrument.The other users are right on target about the valves being turned funny in the chambers, but that's easy to fix. Simply unscrew the tops of each valve chamber (not the stem itself), and turn them until they click. When seated properly, air should be able to be blown freely through the trumpet with all the valves up. If not, simply try turning them again. With a good eye you can line up the holes in the valves with the trumpet.The trumpet ships with valve oil, and the slides are clearly well greased and ready for action...

Fine starter
Although I do play music, I am not a trumpet player. But I bought this instrument for a 9-year-old boy who is just beginning to play. He loves this trumpet, and I love hearing him play. He is making amazing progress. The instrument sounds wonderful, is solidly constructed, and easy to maintain. I think that it is a perfect choice and a fantastic value. Great Value!
My 10 year old will be starting trumpet lessons next month at school. Her music teacher examined the trumpet and said it was an excellent choice for a beginner. My daughter loves that it came with cute, little white gloves. Although the picture looks like a soft case, the actual interior is hard. A local music store wanted to charge me $240 for the same trumpet. Always check Amazon.com first!

Great student horn
I purchased this for one of my trumpet students because it received decent reviews & saved me the hassle of trying a bunch of used horns on her behalf. I was pleasantly surprised. Arrived on time as promised (I'm an Amazon Prime customer). Out of the case, valves were a little dry, after some Blue Juice, they were running smooth. Both the first and third valve slides move easily. Tuning slide was also fine. Ships with a standard 7c mouthpiece.Blowing through the horn was better than I expected. The sound in the middle register is round, not too bright (I was expecting something really thin). It's a small bore so the high range was easy to reach but intonation was a little off with standard fingering above high C. Standard intonation in the low range, third valve slide kicked way out for the low F# and still felt loose (maybe it was my chops, who knows).I was impressed (almost jealous) by the case- as far as gig bags are concerned, very nice...

Good price, quality trumpet
I am a beginning college trumpet student and recently bought this for my lessons that I have. I know enough about music and instruments to know whether it's a good horn or not. I was concerned about not being able to see the trumpet in person before I bought it. As the package came, I hesitantly opened the case and was pleasantly surprised. I was afraid the horn was going to be refurbished and the tone production was going to be horrible. When I examined the horn, the tone quality was better than I expected, the horn was brand new with only a few fingerprints from putting it into the case. It came with all it said it was going to, but the cloth that came with it started falling apart, but micro fiber clothes work better than what they sent. The valve action was great, none of them (even the 3rd valve) stuck. With some valve oil and slide grease, this horn was working fantastic right out of the case. Trumpet
My only complaint was that it came 4 days later than was supposed too. And I think it just sat at a few stops for some reason. But now that we have it I can't complain. We bought this for our 10 year old daughter to replace one that we 'rented' from the school. This is a MUCH better price and it sounds 100 times better than what she was playing. Beautiful!!!
This was bought for my son's birthday. He had been playing a "hand me down" from a family member. He was buying new mouthpieces. He wants to pursue the trumpet and was looking for a quality instrument. I was a bit skeptical because of the low cost. (We had been shopping locally.) Nice Beginner Trumpet
I've played guitar most of my life , but wanted to learn the trumpet to play jazz on. It has a beautiful finish and once oiled the valves work fine. I bought this trumpet to see if I would like playing the trumpet and took my first lesson on it. I was able to hit the notes my teacher wanted me to, so I assume that means it plays well. I did go ahead and purchase a professional model once I decided I did like playing the trumpet. Overall I think for the price it is a well made student trumpet and is more than sufficent to learn on. The case is fairly nice, but no room for a mute or other things like the case for my pro model.

LOVE IT!
All year long, my three and a half year old daughter asked for a digital camera for Christmas. 3-weeks before Christmas, she sat on Santa's lap at the mall and asked for a TRUMPET of all things. I immediately came home and searched online. Everyone had the colorful play trumpets that were electronic with diferent characters on them, but none of them looked real! And I'm pretty sure that my daughter was expecting Santa to bring a real trumpet, so I found this, ordered it and it was here BEFORE the estimated delivery date!It is extremely lightweight (cannot be used as a weapon), each button has a different tone to it AND it looks real (besides the fact that it's not brass). She loved it! She plays it all the time and unbelievably, it's not the most annoying toy she has. I would recommend it to anyone with young children interested in musical instruments.

Good introduction to musical instruments
I'll admit I bought this for my 4 year old who not only blows into it but throws it and bangs it agaisnt the TV. So although he wanted it I probably should've waited a few years to show him just how cool the trumpet is.I think kids who show signs of interest in music will enjoy it. It actually sounds like a harmonica but what do you expect for $14. Still, the valves do work and produce different notes so that's really the point to it. Getting them familiar with how an instrument works. They even have a musical pieces on the back of the box with color coded notes so your young Dizzy Gilepsie and can follow along.Aw go ahead a grab it, why not?My son Miles approves of this message.P.T.Texas

For $10 extra bucks...
My two-year old LOVES the trumpet. He even sleeps with it. The first one he had broke so we needed to replace it. Unable to find one in town, I chose between the two here on Amazon.I'm sure now that that one we originally had was not the Bontempi brand. The Bontempi is made of that thin plastic while (I believe the $24 one) is like what we had - that thicker waxy feeling plastic.The first only broke after a year of hard daily use and a guest who didn't see it before they stepped on it. This new one, I fear won't last as long.Consider the $24 one if you think you're child will really love to play it as much as mine does.

Instrument fine, case needs improvement
I (a beginner at the trumpet) am impressed with the quality of the Etude ETR-100 trumpet. All slides and valves moved freely. The instrument looks and sounds good. The included 7c mouthpiece seemed almost equal to the Bach 7c I already had. The case could be better. Be aware that the main tuning slide MUST be completely pushed in for the case to close properly, don't force it! Also, there is basically no padding between the case and the bell of the trumpet. This could lead to a damaged instrument down the road. Not a problem for me (adult) but could be for a child. Overall a good value.

Bb etude Trumpet
I find that this trumpet is affordable and plays well. It is a good beginner trumpet or in my case a nice trumpet for a musician who loves to play trumpet on the side but not as a main instrument, I would reccommend to any student level child or beginner trumpet, I have played trumpet for 9 years and this is a easy to play trumpet with good sound and just a good first level instrument. The delivery was fast and surprisingly came even earlier then expected.
