Good instruction book with lots of great music!
I'm teaching myself to play the recorder and this book has been extremely helpful! The lessons are easy to follow and hold my interest. It has fingering charts for each new note learned and teaches fundamentals of music, such as note-reading, measures, time signatures, note values, rhythm, etc. Each lesson uses short tunes to teach various concepts, so you're not just playing boring single notes and rhythms. The last chapter (Book 4) is packed with lots of great music! I highly recommend this book for anyone who would like to learn to play the recorder. It makes learning fun!

Great Soprano recorder instruction!
As an adult picking up the recorder again after 15 years, I found this one of the best soprano recorder guides I've found. A great compilation, and perfect for either teacher/student lessons, or self-teaching for adults. It's both very easy to follow and very thorough, but paced sufficiently to be easily absorbed. It's a 4-volume compilation, so you can progress quite far if you'd like.Like the other reviewer, I also think there really needs to be a f Alto recorder version of this omnibus as well. This guide is excellent for soprano, and it would be great if one of similar format and structure were available for the Alto recorder.

Wonderful book for adult players and teachers
I am about to start teaching adult recorder classes and have looked through many instructions books. This is the best that I have found so far for the adult student. Actually, this omnibus edition is a compilation of the three books in the series (for C instruments), along with supplementary tunes--so it is especially useful for a teacher. (At least 2 levels of the student books can be purchased individually for less of an initial cost.)Features that I especially appreciate are:--the larger than typical music which makes for very easy reading (along with very clear and attractive layout)--the duets for student and teacher at the beginning which allow the students to start right off making real music--the very well-thought-out pedagogy that would be more attractive to adults than are many others--the wide variety and high quality of the pieces selected.I recommend this book highly and am only disappointed that there does not seem to be an equivalent book...

Excellent Quality
This DVD player has excellent up-scaling quality. The color quality is superior to the Philips dvp-3560/F7 it replaced. It almost looks like blu-ray quality. It plays dual layer discs without a hiccup. I used the digital out for sound and it is superior to the Philips as well. If are used to a display on your DVD player like I am there is none, but you can display the time with a touch of a button. It is a really small DVD player, but like I said in my review title "Excellent Quality". You will be very happy with this purchase.

Works great
I got this right before Christmas, right as our gym was closing down for 2 weeks. I have a Polaris FS1 heart rate monitor, and I fired it up just sitting for a few minutes to see how well it worked. The answer is very well.I didn't have a problem with the Polaris T-31 band, and my brother-in-law has tried it too with his Polaris T-31 band. From the picture I had expected it to be a large device (like the GPS unit on the Timex Speed and Distance System) and was thrilled to find out that not only is it tiny, but that I can just clip it on to the chest strap and forget about it until the end of my workout.The software is very nice, and generates some nice graphs and lets you see how long you are sitting in the various heart rate zones. It also allows you to save graphs (I use them on my blog) and you can also export the raw data in .csv format.The only issues I have had with the device are:1. Compatible HR Sensor
I can only imagine that this product works great, but apparently Timex codes their heart rate sensors differently, creating a compatibility issue. The discription could have been a bit more specific as to what sensors it works, or does not work, with.If you purchase a Timex HRM and you want to log your workouts then you need to purchase the Timex T5G751 Data Recorder 2. It costs a bit more but it works.

a great walkman
This is the same item as the FX-290, now with a W added. Only difference is the absence of the TV audio band, which will be irrelevent next February. I ve had three of these walkmans in the past couple of years. One shattered upon impact to the ground. I didn't have the case on it, and with the other two the fast forward button, which I use quite a bit fell off.That being said, this is probably the greatest walkman I ve owned. The radio cassette player is a dying breed and I m glad to see Sony put out a new version of an old favorite. With 35 hours on one AA battery, this is one of the great values. I still have hundreds of cassette tapes that I have taped from XM the last couple of years, and I still take my walks listening to those. Transferring to a CD is an option,but its too much of a bother. With the belt clip its so easy to just walk listening to a cassette, even though the sound quality is not as good as a CD,but it fits my purposes fine.With AM and FM...

Another Walkman in Quality
My first prerecorded cassette was ELO's first album--that's how long I've been listening to them! We all know the day of cassette recording or playing is long gone; even CD's are considered done in this day of MP3's. However, that doesn't negate the millions, maybe billions, of cassettes that have been sold over the past 30+ years. Cassettes have their faults, but there are so many productions out there that aren't available on any other medium.I've owned cassette players running $300 'way back in the 80's; these are gone also. The challenge now is to find a portable Walkman-type player that doesn't sound like crap, and that's last longer than a week or so. Excellent Digital Voice Recorder
I just ordered this Olympus VN-8100PC digital voice recorder a few days ago and so far it has worked pretty good. I had an older digital voice recorder, but it didn't have a USB port, so I couldn't transfer files to my PC which is what I wanted, so I bought this. I've made several recordings and transferred them to my PC and they sound good, all you do is plug it into a USB port on your computer and then you can access this device just like a USB thumb drive.I decided to go with this one because the older on Amazon has over a hundred reviews that are mostly all positive, and this one is simply an updated more advanced model with 2GB of memory instead. I checked the Olympus website and this one is very close to the 6200PC model that everybody loves, but with more features and an easier looking layout...

A very nice personal voice recorder
This is a review for the I needed a compact digital recorder for multiple purposes: To record my thoughts while away from my desk, To record myself for later transcription (via DragonSpeak), and to record personal stuff (guitar and ukulele compositions, parties, and my daughter singing). I bought this as a backup to my other Sony PCM-M10 recorder, which is an excellent recorder but I found to be a bit too "large" to conveniently carry around everywhere. Great recorder
First bought the Sony that Amazon has at #1- it was actually not good in the fact that it picked up Iphone or other RF interference and ruined 2 of my recordings. Than I tried other Olympus recorders, and found them ok, but I really wanted stereo output and good battery life with little hissing. The Sony had A LOT of hiss in the recording. This one once you turn on the filter in playback eliminates practically all the hiss. Trust me I went through like 5 recorders before settling on this little guy. The only thing I wish it had was a way to add to a recording. Once you stop you have to record a new file, so be sure to just Pause. Probably the most amazing thing about this recorder is the battery life- While the Sony 820 ate up my batteries in one week of classes, this thing hasn't even dropped a bar out of 3!!!
