Good book... not sure if they'll catch on for jumping rope.
This book has some really good illustrations, and I especially like the little flip-book corner of a girl jumping rope on the bottom of the right-hand pages.The rhymes are clever and sweet - none of the awful stuff kids make up on their own (seriously, the girls on my block ask "Where am I gonna get married at? House, church, toilet bowl!" for their favorite jumprope rhyme!) - and they do have that jump-rope rhythm.But a lot of them are a little long. YOU know how rhymes go. They're short and easy to remember, or they consist of a lot of "floaters", rhymes that appear in nearly every kid's rhyme you can find. These tend to be a bit long, so we'll see what we see.I'm also a little irritated that, like many rhymes and poems written to *read* to children, a lot of these are forcibly nostalgic. They include candles and candelabras, but no flashlights, for example. What's the point?

Cute jump rope rhymes for little ones
My daughter lovest to jump rope and I recall so many rhymes from when I was a kid. Looking at other books and reading some of the words, I realize now, as a parent, I'd rather her sing some more age approrpriate material. We haven't used this book too much yet, but the pictures are pretty and the wording is more appropriate. What's hard is putting together a melody of sorts to go with the rhyme (i.e., Strawberry shortcake cream on top...).

Fresh faces, fetching storyline: a guaranteed fun time
If you just read a thumb nail sketch of this movie, it sounds like another in a long line of (take your pick) lightweight romantic comedies/fish-out-of-water/road movies. And it's true, there's nothing terribly ground breaking in terms of plot here. Nevertheless, it's worth your time. Some of the things that make "Jump Tomorrow" special are as follows:*the whimsical spirit of the screen play;*the capricious joy with which the actors play their parts;*vibrantly colored sets and cinematography; and*director Joel Hopkins, who keeps this movie from taking itself too seriously.The casting and performances in this movie deserve special mention. This is a very enjoyable "girlie" movie, but really guys listen up, if your girl friend wants to pop this DVD in: go for it. Though the plot is a romantic, the characters bring to life a very fresh movie style and not only smart humor but funny humor.Sorry theirs no nude bodies running around or Jerry Springer fights, but a very well thought out plot that is understandable and enjoyable.It's about time some one can put out a decent movie that doesn't have anything to do with drugs, or uses the f word to start every conversation. Unique and satisfying flick
I caught the short movie "Jorge" a couple of years back on IFC, which spawned this full-length version. That movie was black and white, and had a different actress in the lead. Also brought over from the earlier film are the fantasy sequences in the style of Spanish language soap operas. Tunde Adebimpe reprises his role as George, a man whose appearance belies his mousy demeanor. Adebimpe plays George a little like Peter Sellers in "Being There", as a man who takes very little action, but instead allows the events of the story to happen to him. Unlike Chance the Gardener, however, George is not totally disconnected from society or reality. The plot is a fairly standard road movie type deal, with an interesting arranged marriage subplot involving George. The real attraction of the movie are the characters, their interactions. We purchased the 2009 version in November. After reading reviews we knew these were defective sometimes with leaky seams. We live in a tiny apartment in a snowy location so I really wanted this to work for my kids (ages 1 & 3) for some aerobic playtime when stuck indoors. With that in mind I was determined to keep sending back defective ones until I finally hit upon one with well sealed seams. I purchased my first one from Walmart because it would be easy to facilitate free returns as there is a store in my town. I bought an electric pump from Amazon for about twenty-five dollars that works well to inflate it.The first bouncer I had did not have an obvious leak, but I did have to fill the wall chamber every day. There are 3 chambers and they need to be inflated in order (floor, outside bumper ring, walls). I wasn't happy having to fill it every day so I took it back to Walmart and ordered another. I bought this jump-o-lene for my 5 year old son thinking he would have a blast but was greatly disappointed. The box says it's for ages 3-6 but it's more like 1-3. My 2 1/2 year old loves it!He is lighter and can bounce without hitting his feet on the ground like my 5 year old who is about 45 lbs. I read several reviews before purchasing this toy but did not realize that they were all bought by parents of children under 5.Although my older son doesn't have much fun jumping in it, he and his brother can use it to wrestle in, take naps, turn upside down and make a fort. It is still pretty fun.Bottom line: Great for children under 3! Disappointing for bigger little kids who want to jump too!
